Good story, and storytelling. She also played a very nice venue in Seattle, and wore her hair up and fancy attire for the first set. And as Pamela said here, the Triple Door is a very nice venue. I sat in the first row of booths (boxes?), second row of available seating, so I don't know how it was from the rest of the room, but it was a delightful evening. Suze played the piano/songbook material, played one new song that I wrote down as "away from you" and no guitar, as it wouldn't have gone with the hair. I can't find my setlist for the second set, but it was mostly guitar (IIRC), and included Some Other Town and Petaluma Afternoons. It was a very enjoyable show, and it was great to take along friends who had never heard of Susan. (Especially great because they arrived early enough to get the good seats!) Pam, were you there? Susan was dressed up with her hair up. She played I Can't Be New on the piano and she also played No One Needs to Know on guitar, which she also did last week at the Cinegrill. > I can't find my setlist for the second > set, but it was mostly guitar (IIRC), and included Some Other Town and > Petaluma Afternoons. She did Some Other Town at Cinegrill also. Great song. Don't know why she's decided to bring it out. She also did Misery/Happiness, which was a request from the audience, which Susan solicited. > It was a very enjoyable show, and it was great to take > along friends who had never heard of Susan. Well, Pam wasn't there, but Pamela was! :) My friends and I had a table @ 5 rows back, on the left, so we could see Susan's hands as she played piano. I enjoyed the first half when it was her new stuff on piano, with one or two on guitar, but I really enjoyed the wardrobe change for the second set. She had jeans and a shirt on with the sleeves rolled up, and her hair was down, and she played the guitar for most of the second set. That balanced out the show, and we loved the second set the most. I was glad to read in Ron's write up that at Cinegrill Susan wore pants and had her hair down, and said she wanted to be herself. She is incredible on the piano, but she is just as incredible on the guitar, and she seemed to really enjoy that part of the evening in Seattle. I enjoy seeing her more when she carries her folk card, as she says, than when she's playing a lounge singer. Meredith, of the Mere and Woj set, you had sent me an e-mail saying you'd be out here helping with a concert on Sunday night. Did you go to Susan's show on Sunday? As we were checking in, a young woman in heels in front of me asked where the green room was, and she was escorted there. Is the green room the room where performers wait before the show? Afterward, I wondered if that was you, Meredith. If so, she was much taller and younger than I picture you, but then thought, 'Well, why not? Not everyone is nearing 50.' John, I forgot to re-read your e-mail that gave me your description, so I didn't have a chance to look for you. Plus, like I said, sometimes I am a bit shy. But I figured you were there, and enjoying the show with your wife. Kellie Lin, I didn't see Susan after the show, so didn't have a chance to send on your hellos. I didn't write down the set list (though if I had, I would have lost it like John!) but Susan did play one or two new songs, and was in fine form all night. I had intended to get up and see the A&E show this morning that had Susan on it, but it would have be on at 5-7 AM. I didn't get home from seeing Uncle Bonsai until 1 AM, so I opted out of getting up early. Did anyone else tune in? John, maybe we'll meet next time.
