And thanks to those of you who wrote and were there in spirit. We had a beautiful night! Before I get into details, let me just say that this is one of the finest venues in the northeast. And don't just take it from me! Before the show, Susan was telling me how much she loves Circle of Friends, and during the show she mentioned numerous times what an amazing room it is. Impeccable sound, friendly volunteers, a gorgeous TUNED piano...I could go on. ;) Tracy Grammar and Justin Roth are next there at Circle of Friends later this month, on November 20th, I think. (Jake, am I correct with that date?) Here's the link one more time for the remaining 04/05 schedule: http://www.fusf.org/cof/sched.html Sooooooo, the show, the show, the show....You remember hearing that Susan was bringing her band, yes? I had never heard Susan with this particular trio, and let me tell you, it was magic! The players were: Susie Chanteusie - vox, guitars, keyboards Billy Novak - wind instruments: clarinet, sax, alto flute (what else?) Greg Holt - tasty, tasty stand up bass I don't have a set list for ya'll, but I'll mention a few of the highlights, in no particular order. Those of you who were there will have to fill in the blanks for the list with your own posts! Kel's fave musical moments: ***a snazzy instrumental version of 'In My Own Little Corner' *** a new susie chanteusie song called (i'm guessing) 'Every Time I Think of You...I Love You More'. another susan werner instant classic! get thee to a susie show and listen for it! ***the long anticipated return of the SW classic 'Movie of My Life' with billy & greg ***a cover of brian wilson's 'i just wasn't made for these times'. susan mentioned that this song came to mind as she heard kerry's concession speech earlier in the week. lyrics to this tune will follow this post, for those of you who are interested. susan's was a classic and poignant rendition, and very timely. ***a snappy band rendition of susan's song, 'i'll take chicago any day' There was so much more, but I'll leave it to the other believers in attendance to share with you their impressions. In the meantime, here are the lyrics to brian wilson's 'i just wasn't made for these times'. Brian Wilson Title: I Just Wasn't Made for These Times [SPONSOR] I keep looking for a place to fit Where I can speak my mind I've been trying hard to find the people That I won't leave behind They say I got brains But they ain't doing me no good I wish they could Each time things start to happen again I think I got something good goin' for myself But what goes wrong Sometimes I feel very sad Sometimes I feel very sad (Can't find nothin' I can put my heart and soul into) Sometimes I feel very sad (Can't find nothin' I can put my heart and soul into) I guess I just wasn't made for these times Every time I get the inspiration To go change things around No one wants to help me look for places Where new things might be found Where can I turn when my fair weather friends cop out What's it all about Each time things start to happen again I think I got something good goin' for myself But what goes wrong Sometimes I feel very sad Sometimes I feel very sad (Can't find nothin' I can put my heart and soul into) Sometimes I feel very sad (Can't find nothin' I can put my heart and soul into) I guess I just wasn't made for these times I guess I just wasn't made for these times I guess I just wasn't made for these times I guess I just wasn't made for these times I guess I just wasn't made for these times I guess I just wasn't made for these times Buy Kellie Lin's CD: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/klknott2 Online Press Kit: http://www.sonicbids.com/KellieLinKnott ALL NEW Fan Site: http://www.kellielinknott.com Kellie Lin's CONFIRMED TOUR DATES (updated weekly): 11/6/04 @ 8 pm, Circle of Friends, Franklin, MA (with Susan Werner) 11/11/04 @ 8 pm, Saratoga City Tavern, Saratoga Springs, NY 11/17/04 @ 12 pm, University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, WI 11/18/04 @ 12 pm, UW Fond du Lac, Fond du Lac, WI 11/18/04 @ 7 pm, UnCommon Ground, Chicago, IL 11/19/04 @10 pm, Kelleher's, Peoria, IL 11/21/04 @ 7 pm, On the Map, Highland Park, IL (o/f Tom Prasada Rao & Cary Cooper) 11/22/04 @ 7 pm, The Coffeehouse, Normal, IL (with Amy Curl) 11/26/04 @ 8 pm, Beaner's, Duluth, MN 11/27/04 @ 7 pm, Bound to Be Read, St. Paul, MN 12/1/04 @ 9:30 pm, Portal Cafe, Madison, WI 12/3/04 @ 9 pm, The Grapevine, Columbus, OH 12/7/04 @ 10 pm, Beat Kitchen, Chicago, IL 12/9/04 @ 10 pm, PubII, Normal, IL 12/11/04 @ 8 pm, Falling Rock Cafe & Bookstore, Munising, MI 12/12/04 @ 8 pm, Tom's Garage, Appleton, WI 12/13/04 @ 9 pm, The Fine Line, Minneapolis, MN 12/14/04 @ 8 pm, Washington Square Bar & Grill, White Bear, MN 12/16/04 @ 8 pm, Way Out Club, St. Louis, MO 1/24/05 @ 8 pm, The Mews, Provincetown, MA 1/28/05 @ 9 pm, The Green Martini, Concord, NH 1/29/05 @ 8 pm, Appalachian Benefit Coffeehouse, Natick, MA 1/30/05 @ 8 pm, The Burren, Somerville, MA 1/31/05 @ 9 pm, Cantab, Cambridge, MA 4/1/05 @ 8 pm, Habitat for Humanity Benefit, Rock Island, IL 4/21/05 @ 8 pm, Perks, Norwood, MA 8/13/05 @ 6 pm, Music & Arts Festival, Grand Marais, MI 8/14/05 @ 6 pm, Chamberlinn's Ole Forest Inn, Curtis, MI http://www.kellielinknott.com http://www.sonicbids.com/kellielinknott HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 7 Nov 2004 12:40:59 EST From: Scoop52256@aol.com Subject: Re: a night in review - 11/6 at Circle of Friends Kellie, I see that you have a long list of upcoming shows, but I don't see anything even vaguely near Seattle. Will you ever get out to the left coast? We get to see Susan again on Saturday, Nov. 13th! That makes it twice in one year. We usually only get her once a year, at best. Interesting that Suze should do this song and that you should quote it here. As I mentioned the other day, I saw Brian and his amazing band on Wednesday night. I guess my post wasn't so off topic! My neighbor gave me a copy of Pet Sounds Live, which I've been listening to along with Pet Sounds and Gettin' In Over My Head, for the past couple days. I Just Wasn't Made for These Times is from Pet Sounds, so I've heard it a lot lately. For you rock history buffs, did you know that Pet Sounds inspired the Beatles to do Sgt. Pepper's? Kellie - Since Boston is your home, how about working up a folk/classical arrangement of Dirty Water?
