She was last here in April when the new CD came out, and played mainly songs from her new CD. Is she still doing just the new CD songs, or is she combining those with her other songs, hopefully on guitar? I'm hoping someone who has seen her in the last few weeks can answer this one. What sort of venue is she playing? If it's more of a jazz club, I think you will see the romantic songs. For example, I can't see her doing any guitar songs or any songs from the folky side in her Cinegrill show. Looking at the line-up, there are a few jazz groups mentioned, but David Wilcox is also playing there in November, and Christine Lavin will be there in February. I like Susan's new stuff, but prefer it interspersed with the other stuff. When we saw her last April, a few of us thought the songs all started sounding alike after a while, and I didn't think it showed how versatile Susan can be. Luckily, though, woj and I already have tickets to see the "Spamalot" musical in Chicago on New Year's Day, so it looks like we might be ringing in the new year at Davenport's, woo!! >She was last here in April >when the new CD came out, and played mainly songs from her new CD. She's mainly doing the new songs (not just ones from the CD but ones she has written since then), but occasionally two or three old favorites will pop up in the middle of the set. She's also rearranged some of the songs from the CD for guitar, so there is more guitar in her solo sets than you might think. =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== hear at the HOMe House Concert Series http://hom.smoe.org =============================================== HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 Oct 2004 22:00:47 -0700 From: "Ron Rosen" Subject: Re: Susan on Tour Tell us about Spamalot. It's a musical version of _Monty Python And The Holy Grail_, written by Eric Idle, directed by Mike Nichols and starring David Hyde Pierce, Tim Curry, Hank Azaria and other cool people.
