I was going to throw it out, since I don't respond to requests for political donations in the mail. And I'm not on any of political mailing lists - so I wondered why I would get such an envelope. Then I noticed the sticker with my name on it had my name misspelled "Dunleary" - just like on those postcards I've gotten from Susan Werner's mailing list for the last ten years or so! And then I noticed Susan's name hand-written above the return address logo. This looked like an envelope worth opening! And it was. Inside was a flyer: "You are invited to a Celebration of Words and Music by Women for Hoeffel." Long story short: Susan and author Jennifer Weiner are doing a benefit for Congressman Hoeffel's campaign to kick Arlen Specter out of the Senate. (Jennifer will be reading excerpts from her upcoming novel, "Little Earthquakes.") The event will take place Friday, July 23rd, 7-9pm, at a private home in Merion Station, PA. (Yikes, that house is about a mile away from my apartment!!) Prices start at $250 ($100 for students) and go up to $1000. The flyer says that for more info, you should contact Wade Chappell at wchappell@hoeffelforsenate.com .
