Some of you have emailed to find out when our next Believers gathering will be. Here's the preliminary info: COMING SOON - The 2nd annual International (hi reinhardt!) Believer's Get Together for Saturday, November 6, 2004. ;) Scribble this into your calendars! Susan will be playing at the Circle of Friends Coffeehouse, in Franklin, MA on the evening of November 6. (I'm the opening act). Circle of Friends is one of the most beautiful venues in the NE, and one of the finest places to catch a Chanteusie performance. It's a quiet listening room with an excellent sound system, professional stage lighting, and a concert quality Schimmel grand piano. Ya gotta love that! I'll be reserving a function room at a nearby restaurant, and am also negotiating reduced rate lodging for believers who will be traveling from out of the area. It would be great to meet more of you from out of the region - join us for a long weekend in MA. I can help with travel plans, if you email me, as well as get you information on things to see in MA. I'm looking for volunteers from the list to help me plan the daytime event for the list members. Contact me at kellie@kellielinknott.com if you might be interested. Roy? Wanna put our heads together? Here's the venue website, so you can learn more about Circle of Friends and the fantastic music they host: http://www.fusf.org/cof/index.html I'll write to the list as I gather more information. Be well, everybody! ;) Best, Kellie Lin HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 May 2004 12:01:14 -0400 From: fingerpuppets Subject: the weekend in review caught two susie shows over the weekend -- the iron horse and a neat little gig at the well-funded public library in ridgefield, ct. i'll try to post some thoughts about the shows tonight (maybe some of the other attendees can pipe up too) but here are the setlists for now: May 15, 2004 Iron Horse Northampton, MA Don't I Know You [enter Greg Holtz on double bass] Tall Drink of Water Late for the Dance I'm Not Sure Let's Regret This in Advance Philanthropy No One Needs To Know Montgomery Street Seeing You Again [with Zoe Lewis on spoons] [exit Greg and Zoe] Much At All Stay on Your Side of Town Give Me Chicago [enter Greg] Wait In Vain [Bob Marley] You Come Through I Can't Be New Encore: I've Grown Accustomed To Her Face [from "My Fair Lady"; solo] Wouldn't It Be Loverly? That neat little gig was also free! Wish I'd known that in advance, I probably could've gotten some more people to go. Oh well. >May 15, 2004 >Iron Horse >Northampton, MA This was a great night, as most Iron Horse shows are. The amazing Zoe Lewis opened -- I knew the very first time I saw her that she'd be the perfect opener for Susan, and she proved me right and then some. If she's ever in your area, *go*! Susan fans are pretty much guaranteed to like her. (http://www.zoelewis.com for info...) >Seeing You Again [with Zoe Lewis on spoons] Actually, Zoe was playing a mallet thing that produced a tap-dance sound. (Susan said that she'd always wanted to have a tap-dance accompaniment on that song. :) Zoe perched on the end of Susan's piano bench, bopping everything (and everyone, including Susan) in sight with the thing to produce the beat. It was hysterical. I have to say, Greg Holt just kicked ass on bass. He was really, really good, and Susan clearly enjoyed playing with him. >May 16, 2004 >Ridgefield Library >Ridgefield, CT >I Wonder [Irving Berlin] This is one of the songs Susan will be performing at Carnegie Hall on Wednesday. She accompanied herself on nylon-string guitar. She said the invitation to join the Michael Feinstein evening came before the announcement of just who the night was going to be a tribute to; when she found out it was Irving Berlin, she immediately went on a lengthy quest to find something, *anything* by him that wasn't cheery. :) This is one of the songs she found -- and it's definitely not "Grand Old Flag"! She did a lovely rendition indeed. =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://muzak.smoe.org =============================================== HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ End of believers-digest V8 #77 ****************************** ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------- -------------------------- This has been a posting from the Susan Werner believers-digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe believers-digest" in the body of the message
