I knew Vance would be a hoot, as he always is, so I went. The between-song banter was fun. Ellis' parents were in the audience, so Vance made a couple appeals to them during the show. They traded songs, with whoever wasn't doing the song backing up on harmonies and guitar licks. Most of the songs Ellis did were good ones I remembered from his tour with Susan, but he also did some others probably from the new CD. Vance and Ellis just released a CD of covers (I believe it's all covers but I'm not sure) including May I Suggest and Dave Carter's Gentle Arms of Eden, so they did a fair number of those. Vance did an interesting arrangement of Jimi Hendrix' Castles Made of Sand. Here are the tracks from the new CD 1. Only Way 2. Side of the Road 3. Citizen of the World 4. Comes a Time 5. May I Suggest 6. What Do I Want 7. Gentle Arms of Eden 8. This Morning I Am Born 9. Alone Down Here 10. USC is now ranked number one in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll. LSU is number 2. Oklahoma is number 3 after being crushed in the SEC championship game last night. Nevertheless, there is speculation that Oklahoma may still finish 1 or 2 in the BCS and will go to the national championship game. Question: Should a team that gets crushed in their conference championship game play for the national championship? Hi, Ron posed: >Question: Should a team that gets crushed in their conference championship >game play for the national championship? No. NCAA Division I-A football should have a bracket-based playoff system like every other Division I sport. The bowl games can still easily be accommodated in a bracket-based system, so I fail to understand why the NCAA refuses to go that route. I know it's all about the money, but March Madness kind of invalidates any argument to the contrary, doesn't it? But then I'm still bitter about the Big East fiasco that took place this summer (as if I didn't have enough reasons to hate Miami already :P), so I may be incapable of looking at this objectively. :) A girl who's also a sports junkie (yes, it can happen!), =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://muzak.smoe.org =============================================== HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ End of believers-digest V7 #195 ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------- -------------------------- This has been a posting from the Susan Werner believers-digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe believers-digest" in the body of the message
