In the liner notes that were sent to the participants in the CD tree, it just calls it "Rose Garden." I have fond memories of tha= t song, actually; I have a little cheap plastic music box that a favorite a= unt & uncle (both deceased now) gave me when I was a child; it plays that son= g, so I knew the tune long before I ever heard the words.=0D Has anybody seen that commercial for that 2-CD collection of women of cou= ntry music? The commercial shows a woman singing that song; apparently i= t was one of her biggest hits. That got me to thinking - how long has th= e song been around? How many performers have recorded it? I'm going to = have to do some research on that to quell my curiosity, unless someone al= ready has the answers to my questions....;) [demime 0.97c-p1 removed an attachment of type image/gif which had a name of IMSTP.gif] HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 13 Oct 2003 10:17:30 -0400 From: "Steve Murphy" Subject: RE: Rose Garden <> I beg your pardon? It was released in late 1970, and hit number 3 on the Billboard Charts in early 1971. It was by far her biggest hit. She had five other Billboard Top 100 songs, but none of them went higher than number 63. A Canadian duo named Kon Kan had a number 15 hit in 1989 called I Beg Your Pardon which included several lines from Rose Garden. As to how many performers have recorded it, that's a hard question to answer. Most chart books can't answer that question. Just adding my random, useless music trivia ... George (Who is really looking forward to hearing the house concert! I'm waiting by the mailbox!) (And a note to Sherilyn K., Keith J. and Libby W. ...
