I've had more than my share of bizarre coincidences and reconnections out of 
the blue in my life...  even wrote a song about them, a while back, called 
"How Weird Is This?"... but another one happened today that I thought worth 
sharing...

I'm sitting in my Managerial Accounting class at UTD this morning, and in an 
aside, the professor (in his upper 60's) starts talking about the fact that he 
enjoys Sousa marches, because he has a bachelors in music....  This piques my 
interest, because, being from a musical family, my grandfather knew Sousa, 
and he directed the city band in my hometown, where they would play every Sunday 
in the park during the summer.  Both my Dad and I played a few years in it, 
myself.

So, I approach him after class is over, and mention the connection with my 
grandfather, and the park band...  He asks, 
"Ah, park bands... Where are you from?"  
"Ohio"  
"Where in Ohio?"  
"Greenville, just north of Dayton"  
"Yes, I know Greenville, I'm from Dayton originally!  Who was your 
grandfather?"  
"Dwight Brown"  
"I KNEW Dwight Brown!!!"
"Really?  How??"

So, we talk about that for a few minutes, etc... then I mention that my Dad 
played trumpet at Radio City in New York...
"You don't mean Gene Brown???!!!!"
"Uhh, yes..."
"I played trumpet with him in the 60's!!!"
"Oh, wow, that's incredible..."
"You're Gene Brown's boy?  How about that....!!!!!!!"

And the conversation then continued for the next hour over lunch...

Some things are just too weird...  (guess I'm getting an "A" in that class!)

My dad and mom went into an Italian restaurant in Texas.  My dad said
something to the owner in Italian, who responded, ''Paisan!''  My dad said,
no, my name is Sanford Rosen and I'm Jewish.  The man said, ''My wife knew a
Sanford Rosen in Cleveland.''  ''That was my father,'' said my dad.  (Yes,
my grandparents ran afoul of Jewish tradition by naming their son a
''junior.'')  The restaurant owner went and brought his wife out from the
kitchen.  Turns out, my grandfather, Dr. Sanford Rosen, delivered this woman
into the world, and also delivered her children!
