If you look at the current lineup, however, it's difficult to see where they'd fit her in. Go straight to the source when I could instead talk about it and ask rhetorical questions on an internet mailing list? Never! Speaking of what meth said though about Arlo Guthrie and Richard Thompson, I wonder if in 15 years the Flowery Hills Folk Festival will have a 15th anniversary festival and will bring back such names as Dar Williams and Susan Werner, and the presumably younger crowd will post to their e-mail lists (or whatever they'll be using those days) and say things like "Dar Williams and Susan Werner do not come cheap! I'd rather listen to Josephine Floogely and Sherri Boogeley!" Myself I agree with meth and would rather have Susan and Erin, but whadyagonnado. - --Sally _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: smart spam protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 26 May 2003 12:32:32 -0400 From: meredith Subject: Re: Falcon Ridge Hi, Sally commented: >Myself I agree with meth and would rather have Susan and Erin, but >whadyagonnado. Well, I can't do anything about Falcon Ridge, but I can help some folks get their Erin fix! I'm part of the group that's putting on the New Haven Folk Festival (nee the Eli Whitney Folk Festival ... long story) in September, and Erin McKeown is going to be one of our headliners, along with John Gorka and Josh White, Jr. That's taking place in downtown New Haven, CT on Saturday, September 20. The previous night, also in New Haven the Festival will kick off with a Falcon Ridge workshop-like song circle. So far we've confirmed Cadence Carroll and Zoe Lewis. Lewis should particularly appeal to believers -- her musicianship and performance style is up at Susan's level, plus her songs come from the same jazzy universe as Susan's do, though her goofy quotient is quite a bit higher than Susan's on a normal day. =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://muzak.smoe.org =============================================== HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 26 May 2003 13:33:51 EDT From: PBCoustic@aol.com Subject: Re: Zoe meth@smoe.org writes: > Zoe Lewis. Zoe is a hoot... saw her at Kerrville last year, as one of the NewFolk winners. Definite favorable comparisons to SW.... Not sure even Susan could pull off the song "Gringo" like Zoe does!!!!
