John Fuhr, who is not on any of these lists, tell us how to participate - In honor of Gene Shay's 40 years of folk music on the radio, the Old FOGies (Old Friends Of Gene), along with the Philadelphia Folksong Society, are sponsoring a concert at the Keswick Theater on Monday May 12th at 7:30 PM in Glenside. The star-studded show will feature Eric Anderson, David Bromberg, Julie Gold, Arlo Guthrie, The Kennedys, Christine Lavin, Tom Paxton, Tom Rush, Skyline with Tony Trischka, Chris Smither, Susan Werner and surprise guests! Proceeds benefit folks projects of Appel Farm Arts Center, Philadelphia Folksong Society, Sing Out! Magazine and WXPN-FM. Here's your chance to say something to Gene or about Gene! For $25 to $50, your short comment and name will appear on the Patron Page in the Keepsake Souvenir Program Book. Just make your check payable to the Philadelphia Folksong Society and send it to Lynn Sheeran, Philadelphia Folksong Society, 7113 Emlen Street, Philadelphia PA 19119. But you've got to act quickly! At the end of the song he says, in perfect English, "I'm your country at war". I talked with her about it after the show and she said (paraphrasing) I just don't understand my country right now. The best part was when, after that song, she said "Some people say Iraq has the 2nd largest oil reserve in the world. And I think to myself 'War has nothing to do with me'... and then I play this". Then she launched into Big Car. Very appropriate. She never disappoints! It was great to meet Mosh and to see Tom/Patty, Steve/Karen, Gail and Peggy. Sorry I missed the rest of you. Hey, we should get some kind of pin or something so we can recognize each other... Whoops! Never mind... ;-) Great job Kellie! I especially liked your ender "Street Musician". You must have been proud to open for Suzie in front of your parents. Not bad company. Congratulations! So, now let's hear about the Passim shows!
