When one uses an alternate tuning, should you use different gauge strings for the ones you're changing to keep the tension right? I've heard this can warp/bow your guitar neck if you leave your guitar tuned in funky ways. - -B HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 23 Feb 2003 12:28:36 EST From: PBCoustic@aol.com Subject: tunings brian@plutonian.com writes: > I've always wondered about alternate tunings in SW songs... has anyone > compiled a list? > > When one uses an alternate tuning, should you use different gauge strings > for the ones you're changing to keep the tension right? I've heard this can > > warp/bow your guitar neck if you leave your guitar tuned in funky ways. > No list that I'm aware of.... but a few are: "Shade of Grey" and "Time" - CGDGBD (open G drop C) "Old Mistake" DGDGBD (open G tuning) "May I Suggest" can be done in open G, as well. "Big Car" is in an alternate, but I haven't tried to figure it out yet... Only reason I would change string gauges is if I were doing a lot of "drop" stuff, to help keep the tension up... normally I use lights.... Can't say much about the warping issue... Anybody else got anything? Hope it helps!
