Seems good music attracts good people. ;) ron rosen, first of all, you're no old fart! and thanks for calling me a sweetheart again. you forgot to mention the fabulous chuck ellingson in your list of musicians. not only is chuck a dynamite singer, he's one of the conductors for milwaukee's cream city chorus. neat, eh? and we can't forget woj!!! i had the honor of hearing a tape of woj and a buddy singing an original tune called "what's the point?" (i *think*)!!! while on a road trip to go hear susie down in virginia last year. i think i'm gonna cover it. ;) hey, i just had a goofy idea. imagine that! from *me* of all people! wouldn't it be kind of fun to put together a believer's list CD - of us? those who are willing could submit a track - i'd be happy to coordinate this, if anyone happens to be interested. then, for those non-performing listers who want a copy, we could set up another tree to get it out to them. FOR NANETTE: Hello from a fellow Minnesotan! I'm in Boston now, but I'm coming back in May to play in IL, MN, & WI - most likely May 23 in the Twin Cities. Regarding your trip out here for the Susan show on April 11 - (happy birthday!) - I've been informed that large numbers of my family have decided to fly out here for the show too. Quite possibly we could work something out so that you wouldn't have to rent a car while you're out here. Other than the drive out to Lowell, MA, you wouldn't really need one and might find that it would get in the way, especially when trying to get in for the two shows at Club Passim in Cambridge. The "t", or subway, is really wonderful. If you're planning on staying in town to check out Boston and the surrounding area, avoid the car and use public transport! I'll get you to the show on April 11. Just a thought. As we get closer, you can let me know. Come up and say hi, okay?!? ;) Yay!!! The midwest will be representin' on April 11!!! Brenda, can you come too?!??! ;) Later, folks! Kel, you flatterer, you! Welcome, Brenda! Kellie, by the way, is a great singer/songwriter. I'm trying to arrange for the Wisconsin Cream City Chorus (in Milwaukee) to perform one of her numbers ("In Africa") in our June concert. If it comes to fruition, I'll make y'all aware of details... I first saw Susan perform at Luther College when the two of us were freshmen there. Susan sang (if I remember correctly... it WAS 20 years ago!) as a member of the freshman women's chorale (The Valley Singers) and with the Luther College Jazz Band. She and I both performed as solo artists at Dante's, the (now defunct) coffeehouse (that used to be) in the basement of the LC Student Union. Susan, a very giving person, allowed me to use her guitar to perform a set for which I had prepared to accompany myself on the piano, then changed my mind at the last minute. After our freshman year, when Susan left Luther (as did I, at the end of the following year), I lost track of her until one day when I was working at Musicland and I came across a promo copy of "Last of the Good Straight Girls." Since then, I've attempted to attend most of Susan's Wisconsin gigs, usually bringing friends and family with me. I'm going to close now so I can log on to monster.com. (Yes, I'm job hunting, as I have only two weeks left at my present employ.) Peace, Chuck "We must come to see that peace is not merely a distant goal we seek, but it is a means by which we arrive at that goal... We must pursue peaceful ends through peaceful means." Rev. Hi all, It's simply frickin' lovely here in Philly with about 20 inches of new fallen snow. Nobdy mentioned my bandmate Courtney Malley in the musicians mix. As a member of Full frontal Folk she just made a big splach at the Folk Alliance Convention in Nashville. We call her Delilah now. Check her out at http://fulfrontalfolk.com Over the years my band, SomethingBlack has contributed to several compilation CD's ocf internet fans. Two were produced on the Dar Williams list. The first was covers, and the second was originals. The performances ranged from basement tapes (mine and others) to album cuys from several erformers, including one from England. On the Jonatha Brooke list, a CD of Jonatha's songs was made. On the Nields list, they started a project maybe three or four years ago. Still no CD. Meredith, could you help me out with the timeline on this? This is absolutely a doable thing and I've been involved before and i'd be happy to help in some way with the project including some guidance, and a song or two. So let's kick off this discussion. We need to know who can contribute tunes, whether Susan Tunes or originals, and who has a mastering facility to put the tracks together. Now don't all raise your hands at once :-) (signed) Nanook of the north (who now knows over one hundred words for snow, none of them repeatable in a family environment) On 17 Feb 2003 at 16:48, PBCoustic@aol.com wrote: > Kellie writes: > < wouldn't it be kind of fun to put together a believer's list CD - of us?>> > > Interesting/cool idea... would it be our choice of originals or SW covers? > Perhaps a double CD, one of each... > Count me in as a contributor in both directions... > > PB > > HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org > Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs > http://worldcafecds.com HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Feb 2003 17:41:46 -0500 From: meredith Subject: Re: Believer CD.... I think that the proceeds were supposed to go to charity but i'm not sure if they made more than the cost. A low tech alternative might be for the musically talented listers maybe offer mp3 versions of the songs on a page devoted to this endeavor. Perhaps with an option for those folks who enjoy the clips to make a donation to a charity that Susan might be associated with. ~Simona - --- Charlie Sweeney wrote: > Hi all, > > It's simply frickin' lovely here in Philly with > about 20 inches of new fallen snow. > > Nobdy mentioned my bandmate Courtney Malley in the > musicians mix.
