It's her voice, with its sparkling intimacy, that saves the day. With Grey Eye Glances. 8 p.m., the Ark, 431 E. Congress, Detroit. 313-961-6358. $15. ******************** Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but the purpose of a 'what to do this weekend' sort of column is intended to educate the general public as to their best entertainment options for the weekend. I'm not sure I understand why Mr McCollum chose to feature Susan if it his opinion that her talent is substandard. I mean, it's not the sort of review that's gonna get the public flocking to.....hey.....wait a minute.....Susan's at the Ark on Saturday night - and the Ark is at 316 S Main St in Ann Arbor....so Mr McCollum has not only bashed Susan's talent, but he's sending the poor unsuspecting public to St Andrews Hall in downtown Detroit, which is what is located at 431 E Congress....Oh no...hoards of potential folk fans will be wandering through Greektown and the casino trying to find the folksinger with the sparklingly intimate voice... Well, anyway, I'll sure as hell be there, at the REAL venue, in the front row, taking notes!! Jeff W, hopefully we can hook up. I'll be at the Kalamazoo gig on Sunday, too, and will post all from both shows. IMNSHO, if anyone playing at the Ark tonight deserves to be slagged like that, it's Grey Eye Glances ... but that's just me. >Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but the purpose of a 'what to do this >weekend' sort of column is intended to educate the general public as to >their best entertainment options for the weekend. I'm not sure I >understand why Mr McCollum chose to feature Susan if it his opinion that >her talent is substandard. I don't get that either. It comes across like he went out of his way to get a dig in. One wonders why he was motivated to do that. >I mean, it's not the sort of review that's gonna get the public flocking >to.....hey.....wait a minute.....Susan's at the Ark on Saturday night - >and the Ark is at 316 S Main St in Ann Arbor....so Mr McCollum has not >only bashed Susan's talent, but he's sending the poor unsuspecting public >to St Andrews Hall in downtown Detroit, which is what is located at 431 E >Congress....Oh no...hoards of potential folk fans will be wandering >through Greektown and the casino trying to find the folksinger with the >sparklingly intimate voice... While that is kind of funny, it's also inexcusable. I hope the folks who run the Ark give him what-for. ============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth ============================================== Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://muzak.smoe.org NEXT UP: Holly Figueroa, 1/26/03 ============================================== HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 10 Jan 2003 19:52:49 -0500 From: Steve Murphy Subject: Re: Michigan Preview re: I don't get that either.
