Not only is norah talented and still raw and young, she has a BIG $$$$ machine backing her.. she is not the independant artist she appears to be.. there were alot of resources $$$ put into the release of Come Away with Me she played small 25 people venues (livingroom) to Town Hall 1500 seats in a matter of months.. it was a fever of norah jones... lets see how the sophmore effort fares..... sharon if your sister or your brother were stumbling on their last mile in a self-inflicted exile wish for them a humble friend and i hope someday that the best of falstaffs planners give you seven half-built manors where dreams may dream without end dar williams HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Dec 2002 08:18:03 EST From: Ronaathome@aol.com Subject: not bland Hi to all and seasonal greetings from England ( still waiting for the SW Tour this side of the pond!) My son's lovely girlfriend bought me the Norah Jones CD for Christmas - a complete surprise - I had not heard it before - and I must say I love it. It is to me truly not bland - it is evocative and varied and meaningful. She has a very special voice quality and I think Susa herself would rate her highly The Rolling Stones Forty Licks and the Tracy Chapman album and the triple Queen all came into the house over Christmas ...but it's Norah who has been playing over and over. On first hearing I said at once "If this is in the Charts section of HMV then Susan Werner can be there too"....it also got me asking the age old question...why does one artiste make it big and another equally talented not?...is it all marketing and who you know...is it fate and luck....anyone think they know the answer? It was an excellent show -- although I kept wanting to stand up and shout "Would you people just shut up and LISTEN??!!!??" Guess I'm spoiled by the coffeehouse/houseconcert scene...
