Unfortunately it was just over half full on friday. I think that the holiday and WYEP's lack of Susan on the radio weren't a good combo. Its a great room and every performer I've seen there raves about the sound. The sound is truly amazing due to Denny, the sound guy. Plus the seating is around cafe tables and in booths which is a very pleasant way to view a performance. I hope that Susan comes back to Pittsburgh soon, despite the dismal turnout. IN case anyone was wondering she wore an asian inspired red mandarin collar shirt and black pants. One of my companions for the evening, Jessica, is sure that the shirt was last season's Limited. The Setlist with some random banter thrown in: Time Between Trains Shades of Grey Little Yellow House St Mary's of Regret Some Other Town misery Barbed Wire Boys Talk about the lack of spice in food in Iowa... WHY BORROW WORRY? Susan mentioned that this is a new song. I can't find my link to Sherrlynn's website. Sherrlynn if you want the lyrics I can get them to you. This is a very jazzy guitar song that better be on a future album! *pardon of the presidnetial turkey banter* Mary Gautier's "No Mercy in the Sky" *How John Carey Said that 9/11 was an oppurtunity missed for the president to say "lets get off foreign oil"!" Big Car 3/4 moon on the piano: I'd be good for you cole porter light sleeper much at all stay on your side of town so nice seeing you again during which susan channeled louis armstrong. I think even the tables shook as Louis sung the second half of the song. encore: have yourself a merry little christmas seqway into "this is the best time of your life" Even though I was dissapointed at the lack of audience members I still had a great time. I even made three new fans. My friends Marissa, Ben and Jessica had never heard a single Susan Werner song previuos to that evening and Ben was already a bit ticked off at the prospect of having spent 12 dollars to see some chic play some bar. By the end of the first song he was thanking me for dragging him out there and by the end of the set he was discussing with Jane which CD would be the best first CD to buy. Marissa and Jessica were just as impressed alhtough too poor to buy CDs (at least now I know what to buy them for their birthdays). There is even talk of a roadtrip to see a show sometime in the future! Susan's comments as usual were hilarous. She repeated her three oxymorons in politics (see kellie linn's post) and introcuded 3/4 moon with talk about Rogers and Hart. 3/4 Moon is a truly funny song. I'm sure it will go with the rest of the funny songs into the realm of never being released! Susan also noted that Pittsburgh is different from Boca Raton, by about 60 degrees...I'm going to assume that that's where she spent her Thanksgiving. She made wrong turn on way to airport and really truly ended up in waay "some other town". Saw a working girl and then thought about a working girl she saw at 5 in the morning working the main drag of winnipeg and by the way if you ever need to know about any town on the continent she's been there ... recently" Yes, she was rambling! And this one cracked me up especially "after seeing the midwest sari emporium thought wouldn't it be funny if there was a second hand indian store, "whose sari now?" " If anyone wants to go into the secondhand Sari business please email me off list ;-) I hope this review is fun reading for some of you out there. And please bear with the fact that I ramble in person and in writing and that's just my nature. The first DVD ever was purchased Friday night. Not by me, but I can't wait to hear about the DVD in more detail by those who are not DVD challened like me. ~Simona ===== Simona L.
