I'm proud to say that my local NPR station runs a 3 hour "Folk Show" on Sunday nites (www.nhpr.org for streaming) and it does play NNF - because I sent the host a copy! Can't do that in commercial radio. Not to mention - the commercials! On another topic - my DD has been hounding me for an answer to this - can someone help? Susan's itinerary lists a show Oct 18 at Assembly Hall in Exeter, NH. Various listings have told us that this is actually the auditorium (we think!) at Phillips Exeter Academy, private boarding (?) school. But no one can give us ticket info, and even the switchboard at the school doesn't seem to know anything. Is this a private house-concert type thing or what? Can anybody give me a # to call for this? My daughter and my new son-in-law (wedding was in July) are in the middle of buying a house - it looks like it will all work out, but it has been a crazy time, and they could sure use a fun nite out. Drop me an e-mail if anyone has any info, and thanks loads! Yes! Thanks, Simona, for forwarding that! I sent in a letter extolling the virtues of our local 100% listener-supported and 99% volunteer-run community radio station, WPKN in Bridgeport. >On another topic - my DD has been hounding me for an answer to this - can >someone help? Yes, it is -- it's located in the Academy Building at the school, according to their web site, . (It is a boarding school, btw - -- one of the most prestigious in the country. They always kicked my school's ass in sports every year. :}) Alas, I couldn't find any info on their web site about events that may be open to the public. ============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth ============================================== Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://muzak.smoe.org ============================================== HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Oct 2002 20:03:26 -0400 From: meredith Subject: Re: photo gallery Hi, A week or so ago, Sharon mentioned: >http://wfuv.org/ > >fill out your favorite concert memory.. Thanks to this pointer, I went to WFUV's site and did just that. Lest I be labeled a blasphemer, I just want to point out that it'll take a *lot* to top my favorite concert memory, because it was so rare and incredible and special: on December 8, 1996 at the Iron Horse, the power went out in a blizzard but that didn't stop The Nields from doing a (necessarily) completely unplugged show by candlelight. It was simply the best live moment ever. WFUV seems to agree, because today I got an email from their assistant program director asking if she can call me sometime next week to record my story for broadcast during their upcoming fund drive! I guess I should renew my long-expired WFUV membership now ... ============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth ============================================== Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://muzak.smoe.org ============================================== HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ End of believers-digest V6 #186 ******************************* --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------- This has been a posting from the Susan Werner believers-digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe believers-digest" in the body of the message
