Anyway, I'm just decompressing from Falcon Ridge. No Susan this year, but next year for sure along with Dar, and the Falcon Ridge irregulars for the 15th anniversary. I didn't get to chat with most of the believers there, worked about 25 hours keeping the world safe for folkies, finding kids and parents, and maintaining order for Ani's set, which was no big deal at all. Ani's performance was a big deal, she's a great live performer. Performers i liked and recommend: Davinci's Notebook: Great acapella group that gives a whole new meaning to boy bands. Great stage presence and ROTFLAPYP funny. See themn soon as you can. Rhonda Vincent and the Rage: New Grass/Blue Grass/kick ass band The Paperboys: as always, high energy eclectic traditionally basesd music with Shannon Saunders on fiddle, tall, beautiful, and immmensly talented. Lucy Kaplansky: lovely songs, lovely voice, played there with Duke Levine, one of the best backup players on the circuit Chris Smither: blues based singer songwriter, guitar wiz. Tracy Grammar was on site staring about 9 AM on Friday and was there all weekend. She set up a memorial booth for Dave Carter off the midway where memories were shared, candles lit, prayers said. In front of the booth a 10 ft. ring of flowers was laid at the end of the festival. In place of the planned set, a tribute set was played. Tracy came out to a three minute standing ovation. I was on duty, but made sure to be there when the set began. Tracy said that folks had told her how brave she was to be there, but that she was afraid to go home. I was supposed to be the security dude, but when she started into "The Mountain" I completely lost it and had to go somewhere to be by myself. Can't have security crying in front of the fans. Can't have them thinking your a pushover, ya know? The rest of the memorial featured various other artists doing Dave's songs, and it was a cathartic experience for the fans and the musicians, and for Tracy as well. All the merch sales of Dave and Tracy items was given to Tracy, no cut to the house. I fervently hope that Tracy will continue to be a force in the folk world. Her talent is great, her voice is lovely. We need her in the melieu. that's my small report on Falcon Ridge. We now return you to the battery operated doll list, and remember, if you dribble before you shoot, don't use the rhythm method }8-> Charlie _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 01 Aug 2002 09:47:23 -0400 From: Steve Murphy Subject: Re: Wow ! <<< Loud Buzzer Sound>>> Ron Wrote: That would put me right around....37. Charlie has it, but I think he took the batteries out and threw them at some outfielder at one of the Phillies games. Someone on this list was kind enough to forward my message on to Susan, so when I went to Susan's show at the Media Theater in February and asked her to sign a copy of NNF for Erin, Susan already knew who Erin was. Susan signed the CD booklet "To Erin - Hope to hear YOU soon!" When I gave the CD to Erin a couple weeks later -- along with a copy of the "Live at Bull Run" set -- she was completely flabbergasted. And now that she's heard the CDs, she's more of a Susan Werner fan than ever before. Anyway, here's your VCR alert for the week: Erin will be singing on the Today show this Saturday, 8/3. She'll be on during the show's final half hour (live at 8:30 on the east coast on NBC) performing at least one song from her new musical, "The Boys From Syracuse," which is now in previews on Broadway. Please watch this -- I promise you will not regret it. She's a major talent. Here's a recent photo of her doing one of the songs: http://www.broadway.com/template_3.asp?CT=26&CI=18994&AP=4&NA=F This past Sunday at the Curtis Arboretum show I spoke to Susan, and she was excited to learn Erin would be on the Today show. Still, when I told her it would be Saturday morning at 8:30, Susan laughed and said, "Oh, NO WAY am I getting up that early!" - -Tim HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 Aug 2002 17:51:11 -0700 From: "Ron Rosen" Subject: Re: Today Show, Saturday Morning > Anyway, here's your VCR alert for the week: Erin will be singing on the > Today show this Saturday, 8/3.
