I've been thinking about this, and I think I'm probably not going to go this year, but I'll be back in 2003. This has been a really hectic summer so far with work and with all these events (weddings, graduations, new babies being born (not to me though)). I think it's just almost too much for me to try to fit FRFF in too. It almost feels like heresy, but there you have it. - --Sally sallyagreen@hotmail.com HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Jun 2002 21:36:08 -0400 From: meredith Subject: Elm City Song Circle: Saturday, June 22 Hi, In case anyone in the CT area is looking for something to do this weekend: We, the crazy people of the New Haven Folk Alliance are putting on a cool outdoor event in downtown New Haven this Saturday afternoon, as part of "Arts On The Edge", an adjunct event to the International Festival of Arts & Ideas. It's called the Elm City Song Circle, and will feature round-robin performances including the following wonderful musician people: Anne Heaton (wonderful piano-based singer/songwriter) Donna Martin (CT singer/songwriter) Robert Messore (even before he became a friend, I thought he was one of the most incredible guitar players I've ever seen) Eric Schwartz (equally capable of creating powerful and fall-down-funny music) Colleen Sexton (incredible voice, incredibly sweet person) Marc Teamaker (the only unknown -- to me -- on this list) The event takes place from 4-6 pm, and is free (though we will be passing a hat). Complete info, as well as directions and parking map can be found at http://www.ctfolk.com. ============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth ============================================== Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://www.smoe.org/meth/muzak.html ============================================== HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Jun 2002 18:57:01 -0700 (PDT) From: simona loberant Subject: Pittsburgh Concert First I'd just like to say welcome to Deb who just joined the list! I won't attempt to embaress her at all, but she is one of the nicest people I've had pleasure to meet and anyone else here who knows her would definately say the same. I got to see Susan perform for the first time in our fair city of Pittsburgh. The first performance was a sort of lunch time performance in a small patio area between two Pittsburgh skyscrapers. The crowd was small and there were a lot of people walking in front of the concert goers the whole time. But I can't complain since it was free and we all got to hear two, yes two, brand new songs. They were both on the raunchy side and may only make it to a CD if Susan releases one with a warning label. I'm over exaggeratting of course. One song was about not changing the bed sheets or turning off the etta james on the stereo b/c the songwriter was in the mood (the idea was, according to intro, that it was about someone with an older... and perhaps less virile boyfriend!). Since I was already taking advantage of the flex time policy at my company I decided to simply stay for the later concert and tour the arts festival with my friends. We settled in for Susan's set after a day of looking at pretty things we couldn't afford. The sky was clear but as the hour wore on it became cloudy. Susan did a kick-ass slow version of Help (Beatles). Plus some of the usuals like Big Car, All of the Above, Light Sleeper, Cole Porter, St. Mary's and Stationary among others. The new songs were not part of the later show, I can only assume taht it was due to the kids that were numerous at the evening show. And "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head" was the encore. I think that this was tempting fate unfortunately.... After Susan left the stage Tom Paxton entered and aboiut halfway through his first song it started to rain and thunder and lighting. After trying to brave the weather for about twenty minutes many of us scampered off to the dry safety of our cars. I have to say I'm a bit dissapointed since I'd wanted to see Tom Paxton live ever since I heard his song "ashes of love". Fortunately Susan did annouce that she'll be playing indoors in Pittsburgh at the end of November :-) ~simona Sign-up for Video Highlights of 2002 FIFA World Cup HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Jun 2002 18:36:26 +0000 From: Webmaster Subject: videos are working again... Marty - I meant to write you last week ... for some reason I was fantasizing that there might be another SW gig near Chicago before October, so visited the site from work ... and when I realized I hadn't visited it in it's newest incarnation, I took the 'flex-time' to peruse the whole thing. (plus, was trying to figure out if you were using includes or what to do the top nav-bar ... I'm updating a musician's website right now and trying to cut down on the maintenance!) anyhow - when you are on some but not all of the press pages, the navbar link to albums has the relational operator wrong, so it shows up as "html/html/albums. ..." but the rest of the nav bar links are right ... sorry - can't remember WHICH of the press pages it was ... btw - I like the look/feel of the new site (although the "feel" at home on my 56K connection via Netscape, Opera & Mozilla is *definitely different* than the T1/MSIE at work ... and mostly the 56K thing ) Regards, Carolyn Andre - --- candre@house-of-music.com Chicago, IL / USA Support Independent Music!
