["Sally Green" Subject: susan songs Hello from a list observer, I've never posted before. I think some of you are forgetting that Susan is not famous yet, and none of her five CD's have gone gold... As a matter of fact only one was a classic record deal, one was a new release by a fledgling record company that flopped (the record company that is), and three have been independently produced. They might not be demos per se, but neither are they definitive product that cannot be re released or re addressed in some fashion. Part of the reason they were made was to get Susan's work out to record companies, part of the reason was to sell a few to try to scratch up a little money, and part of the reason was to get product out to her early and most enthusiastic supporters. As the years have gone by Susan has developed a powerful and popular "romantic song cycle," which has earned her a solo night at Wolf Trap, and might snag a new record deal. Would you want to endanger that (deal) (concept) just because one of the songs is previously released to a relatively few people?? Even if the "romantic song cycle" concept is self produced it's still viable product, and would be less so for new fans if it were missing this one song. One song, sheesh. Maybe you should instead complain when CD's come in at less than 70 minutes of product. By the way, if a big record company came along to push Susan the first thing they would do is force the old catalog off the market, at least for a little while. Remember? It's been great fun reading other people's opinions, hope you found some merit in mine. I was looking it as a fan who has all the albums and hates wasting good CD space on already-released material. But the Romantic Song Cycle arguments are convincing. - -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web - Check your email from the web at http://mail2web.com/ . Hey folks - does anyone know what's up with the July 28th 5pm show in Wyncote, PA - like, do you need tickets and if so, how do you buy them? The venue link thing on Musi-Cal isn't working for me, and doing copious web searches for "curtis arboretum susan werner tickets" isn't yielding anything either. If I'm in town that weekend, I'm considering driving up to Wyncote. Haven't seen Susan in a dog's age. It's been since January or something! - --Sally HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ End of believers-digest V6 #124 ******************************* --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------- This has been a posting from the Susan Werner believers-digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe believers-digest" in the body of the message
