Well, Paul, Chuck started it by letting a certain bit of information slip out. But, I will be out of town for a week, so everybody can sit back and not worry about any fresh posts from me. In my absence, however, I've arranged for a few of my old posts from '99, '00, and '01 to be reposted. I'm sure no one will mind. I mean, it's not like you're paying $16 for them. ;-) HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Jun 2002 00:20:27 -0500 From: "Chuck Ellingson" Subject: Re: My Left Hand - The Musical (?!?) Does it mean anything to you? Do you feel it the way I do? Tell me please Cuz I have to know I'm a bashful child Beginning to grow And the way you talk And the way you feel... OK, everyone, listen up! I'm gay (and proud of it), but I do not go around implying that other people are. Frankly, I don't care what your affectionality/sexuality is unless you're my partner. I hope that no one who reads this list would assume that any performer who plays at a LGBT-sponsored event must be, or even probably is, gay. The fact is there are about nine times as many non-gay folks out there as there are us bent folks. It's simple mathematics. Yes, gay people perform at LGBT events, but so do a heckuva lot of straight people. I marched against apartheid in the 80's, however I'm of European American origin and I've never been to South Africa. I've marched for those who want to keep the right to choose whether or not to give birth legal, however I am not capable of bearing a child myself. It's just common sense. Guilt by association is sophomoric, hurtful and wrong. If anyone has questioned Susan's sexuality/affectionality based my posting(s), I apologize! I am NOT Susan's spokesperson; I never will be. I've posted that Susan was very supportive when I was coming out at Luther College (the one year that we were there together). She helped me to realize that I was not damned simply because I found myself attracted to persons of the same gender. Please don't make assumptions based on what I've posted. Just know that Susan has been a friend to me, a gay man, just like she's been a friend to many other people, regardless of with whom they fall in love, the color of their skin, the religious beliefs they hold, etc... If I've offended anyone by talking about whom I love, I apologize. But I don't feel that I should be any less vocal or prolific about my partner of ten years than any other person would be about the person whom she or he loves. As I've said before, anyone is free to email me off list about anything. But if you think I'm going to give you some juicy gossip about someone else's affectionality, you're wrong. I'm not a gossip-monger. I'm simply a loving, caring, supportive individual who will stand up for your right to believe as you believe, to say what you wish to say and to fall in love with whomever captures your heart. I won't judge you (although I might use you as comic fodder - Sorry, Ron) and I hope that you will not judge me. I wish you all long-lasting PEACE, Chuck Ellingson "If men can run the world, why can't they stop wearing neckties? How intelligent is it to start the day by tying a noose around your neck?" Now I must address this. What I was referring to, Chuck, was your statement that Susan said Cole Porter would be on the next album. That's what got me going the last couple days, and that's all I meant. Sorry if the above statement led you beyond that.
