Cohen" Subject: name that tree Hi everyone: I've been working away at designing the cover art for the new tape tree but I think we need to come up with a name for it. The first one was easy because it was just from one show but this second one has a bunch of stuff. So anyone who has any good ideas for a name for the CD, e-mail me off list. I'll collect 'em until the end of the week - April 26 and then post them and you can all vote on what you like best. Then I can finish up the design and hopefully have it done in early May. The street is the intersection of Barrow and Washington Place, just east of Sheridan Sq, where Dave lived for over 30 years. The first meeting, 2 weeks ago, went really well and the proposal was unamimously approved. This second meeting was the next step up the ladder. The vote was taken while we were still there and it was once again unamimous. The next step is with the City Council, and rumor has it they approve all previous approvals, but it takes them forever to do so. We're hoping for sooner rather than later, but ultimately we dont care because we know its a slam dunk. Just got back from celebrating the good news on the roof of a friends apt on W4 St overlooking this fine city. Its good to have some good news! *************************************************** Dave's friends are also planning to publish his unfinished memoirs. They are looking for recordings and/or writing of Dave talking. If anyone has- or knows anyone who has- things which might be of interest in this regard, please contact me privately. She was very relaxed and poised as she made small-talk while trying to figure out where to plug in her guitar. Ultimately, after the sound man went on stage to help her she acknowledge that it was her fault. She was wearing a wireless pack on her back and didn't realize that cord she needed was right there on her back. I was very impressed by her poise on stage and her banter. She mentioned that she was playing the sister of the guitar that she left in the cab in NYC. She told a great story about how in college her grandmother dated the brother of Ahmet Ertigan, head of Atlantic Records, and discoverer of some of the biggest names in pop music. Frank Zappa named a son after him. Anyway, after Alice's first CD came out, her grandmother called Ahmet Ertigan and told him about Alice. Ertigan said, "Can she dance?" Alice's grandmother lives in LA and was in the audience. Another great line about Cheryl Wheeler: "Are those your driving sweats, or your show sweats?" Alice's music is more on the pop side of folk. She has one song, "Leading With My Heart Again," that I think could be a country hit.
