That makes sense ... but the lineup that they do have so far for this year still looks mighty fine. Just having Erin McKeown and Nerissa & Katryna Nields there on their own would make it worth the trip (not to mention Trina Hamlin in the Most Wanted Showcase). But at this point I'd go even if I didn't care much for any of the performers, because it's become such an indelible part of our summer. I'd have fun just hanging out with friends and perusing the stuff for sale in the vendors area. There is indeed a castle in Tarrytown overlooking the bridge, and I've always wondered what it was. Why was it featured on the Food Network? The Tappan Zee is my favorite bridge in the entire world. For some silly reason it spans the absolute widest point of the Hudson River, with significantly narrower crossings close by in either direction. It's gorgeous, particularly when it's lit up at night. The scenery is pretty too, and if you look downriver on a reasonably clear day you can see the Manhattan skyline. I used to have to cross the bridge twice a day, and it's the only part of that hellacious commute that I miss. Last spring when Susan played at the Whaling Museum, we were hard pressed to find any place in town that was open past 5:00 for anything, never mind the food we were seeking ... we finally ended up at a bar that happened to have a guy flipping burgers in the back. It was better than nothing, I suppose. ======================================= Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth "an eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind" -- mahatma gandhi ======================================= Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://www.smoe.org/meth/muzak.html HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 26 Jan 2002 18:16:34 -0800 (PST) From: Simona Loberant Subject: double shows? a question I have a question for y'all... I am considering going to the concert this coming friday in bethlehem, pa. Its quite a drive for me but I thought it might be worth it b/c there are two performances one at seven pm and one at nine pm. Has anyone ever attended two concerts like this in a row? if so, does susan do two identical or extrememly similar shows? or two completely different shows? I'd just like to know b/c i rather not attend two identical shows. also, does anyone have an recent concert reviews? thanks, simona Simona L. I'd just like to know b/c i rather not attend two identical shows. I attended two shows when she toured with Ellis Paul, and the shows were pretty much the same. I think this was because a lot of the audience were Ellis fans, and they had a pretty much set show. I have read about her doing two very different sets in two consecutive shows. I think it might depend on the audience - whether it's mostly people from the first show or not. Either way, I think you can expect to hear a lot of songs from NNF because that's what's hot at the merch table. What the hay. Go to both shows! (But if for some reason you can only go to one, always go to the late one.) There are certain artists who stick to the exact same set list all the time, but with Susan that's usually not a concern. There will be some overlap, but chances are you won't be the only one attending both shows, and Susan is usually aware of that and plans accordingly. (I would imagine it would be boring for her to do the exact same show twice in one night, too.) Plus, the early show tends to be a bit shorter, since there is a tight schedule to get the second show started on time. And in our experience, Susan's second shows tend to be a bit looser (dare we say, loopier?) and more unpredictable. She gets punchy when she's tired, and that usually leads to much entertainment. :) ======================================= Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth "an eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind" -- mahatma gandhi ======================================= Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://www.smoe.org/meth/muzak.html HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ End of believers-digest V6 #22 ****************************** --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------- This has been a posting from the Susan Werner believers-digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe believers-digest" in the body of the message
