Hear, hear! um, she had a saturday night set the first time she was at falcon ridge, in 1996. as for this year, i have no idea what her plans are but i'm not expecting a repeat appearance this year -- i seem to recall her saying that she prefers not to play the same festival in consecutive years. of course, i could be wrong. woj HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Jan 2002 17:16:12 -0500 (Eastern Standard Time) From: Leslie Dreyer Kalra Subject: Re: NNF On Wed, 23 Jan 2002, Jeff Wasilko wrote: > On Tue, Jan 22, 2002 at 07:40:05PM -0500, Roy Langhans wrote: > > Last weekend, I heard on a folk radio program that Susan recorded > > "Everybody's Talkin" on a cheap cassette player and that, after additional > > accompaniment tracks were recorded, it was included on the CD without > > Susan's knowledge. > > > > I find that awfully hard to believe. According to the NNF liner notes (which I read obsessively): "everybody's talking, vocal and acoustic guitar, recorded by s.w., lincoln park, chicago. cassette played on a teenie tiny recorder held up to a microphone and put to two inch reel by colin linden, who then got the band to play along with it while i was out getting barbecue. Just like that." This makes it sound like it was Colin Linden's idea, but Susan clearly went along with it. Jeff's version of it sounds closer. It may have been Linden's idea to use it to get the take done, but Susan's idea to keep it. "May I Suggest" was also taped at "lincoln park, chicago", which I assume is Susie's digs, so clearly she was not recording on a cheap cassette deck; they only used that for playback. How cool to be able to record in the comfort of your own home...:) I seriously doubt any creative decisions on an album get made without Susan's knowledge and full consent. She's too much of a perfectionist for that. leslie HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Jan 2002 15:08:48 -0800 (PST) From: Simona Loberant Subject: Re: falcon ridge OH i hope you're wrong woj! after all falcon ridge is no ordinary festival :-) ! n'woj wrote: as for this year, i have no idea what her plans are but i'm not expecting a repeat appearance this year -- i seem to recall her saying that she prefers not to play the same festival in consecutive years. of course, i could be wrong. woj HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com Simona L. Frankly, I think it would be a huge mistake for Susan not to be there with a new CD out.
