From: owner-believers-digest@smoe.org (believers-digest) To: believers-digest@smoe.org Subject: believers-digest V6 #14 Reply-To: believers@smoe.org Sender: owner-believers-digest@smoe.org Errors-To: owner-believers-digest@smoe.org Precedence: bulk believers-digest Tuesday, January 15 2002 Volume 06 : Number 014 In Today's believer's digest: ----------------- suze in miami [darthmosh27@att.net] Re: suze in miami ["Ron Rosen" ] Re: suze in miami [Jeff Wasilko ] Re: suze in miami ["Ron Rosen" ] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Mon, 14 Jan 2002 22:14:08 +0000 From: darthmosh27@att.net Subject: suze in miami okay, this weekend saw susan doing two house concerts in miami, although the term "house concert" doesn't really seem adequate. it was a very large house that had seating for at least a hundred people each night, jbl speakers, and a real grand piano ("no rhumba setting here"). the set-up was plastic chairs all around and a really comfortable couch directly in front of and to the side of "the stage". we (susan [ozwoman] moss, sharon [the other "sharon g"] girlock, dave [i have no nickname] mckay, and i) were fortunate enough to have a place on the couch for each show. the first night was pretty much a typical susan show. she had the nnf pants on (which i'd not yet seen, but which are still very cool) and a black shirt. there weren't any real surprises as she played a lot from nnf during the guitar set (with the exceptions of "stationary," "all of the above," "it's okay to feel good," and "nefertiti's dream." she closed the first set with "everybody's talking" which sounded kind of weird without the distortion. in fact, it was somewhat odd hearing the new songs solo now that i'm used to the cd. during "yellow house" i kept hearing the drums in my head. the romantic song cycle was also what she'd been doing lately: tall drink of water cole porter philanthropy no one needs to know light sleeper much at all seeing you again i can't be new the encore was the one-two punch of "standing in my own way" and "may i suggest". however, when it came to the end of "standing," she realized that she left her slide in tampa. she fumbled around the stool until she eventually grabbed her tuner to use as a very impromptu slide. the second night was a bit different. after the first night, sharon had requested "sorry 'bout jesus" and susan obliged. sadly, i did not have the same luck with "up in the cheap seats" (which i requested before the show as i handed her a new slide as a potential bribe ;-)> nor did the woman who requested "dow re me" during the show. susan responded with "we'll take that one under advisement. i don't know if i can do it. it's got a lot of words. it's like requesting 'alice's restaurant'." the shocker of the night, though, was the return of "au naturelle." i don't think i've heard her do that one in a couple of years. she closed night #2's guitar set with "ode to billy joe" which i've never even heard except when she does it. the piano set was also somewhat odd. it's as if she put "the cd" on shuffle. she played most of the usual songs, but not in order. when she played "cole porter" she sang "maybe if i spoke some football (but not today)" referring to the dolphins' loss that afternoon. she did "your side of town" instead of "philanthropy" and added a new one (new to me, anyway) called "you come through." she closed the piano set with "when you wish upon a star" and "sunday kind of love." the encore was the same, but when she got to the end of "standing" she grabbed the slide from the stool, yelled "look what i've got!" and played the end as usual. overall, the second night was much more laid back (the crowd was much more mellow). she also said that nnf will be in stores on january 29th without a label behind it. i guess nothing panned out. we extended an invitation to tonight's ellis show to her. if she shows up, you'll hear about it here first! rock on! stephen/MOSH "you got your passion, you got your pride but don't you know that only fools are satisfied dream on, but don't imagine they'll all come true" - billy joel HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Jan 2002 20:34:32 -0800 From: "Ron Rosen" Subject: Re: suze in miami > overall, the second night was much more laid back (the > crowd was much more mellow). she also said that nnf > will be in stores on january 29th without a label behind > it. I think Koch has handled distribution for Susan when she was on Bottom Line, but I could be remembering wrong.
