St.Mary's and Some Other Town blew me away, as did her singing in general on LOTGSG. I like the big voice - the almost Broadway delivery. Little wispy singer-songwriter vocals leave me cold. On TBT, I was floored by Old Mistake, Bonsai, Montgomery Street, and Can't Let You In. The writing, the jazz influences are so strong. If Diana Krall heard Montgomery Street she'd go running for her piano. I found Susan with the LOTGSG CD - the older ones never mad as much of an impression on me - but then, I didn't grow through those exercises with her. I hate Bring Round the Boat lyrically, but the music is great. I am not yet enamored of NNF. I think Susie is tired. Most performers have an off album every now and then. Part of the growth process.
