Last I heard he had Colon cancer and was undergoing surgery in November. He had insurance to cover the surgery, but no prescription coverage and had to cancel concerts for the next year so he was really hitting hard times with the health and monetary breakdown. I wonder how he's doing? Susan performed on live radio in Chicago 12/13 for the WFMT Midnight Special 50th Anniversary special. I volunteered to work cd sales. While there, Susan asked me to be her roadie for the night. (I moved one of her guitars to and from the stage.) The three hour program is currently archived at: www.broadcast.com/radio/archives/wfmt/midnightspecial/ She does a three song set (Misery, Barbed Wire Boys, May I Suggest). To hear her, move the clock up to 02:23:11. There is a picture of her and other performers at: www.midnightspecial.org/photos.html 'Twas a fun night. Enjoy! Most people following a craft, whether a handcraft or a musical one, do it because they love doing it. The gravy is that they get to make money doing it. OTOH, they need to make a specific amount of money, not just pocket change, in order to do it full time. I'm sure most of our faves go thru this balancing act all the time - "I wanna do X - but will the public buy it? How about if I do X and also Y - will that be enough to make them buy it? and if they don't buy it, then what?" etc. Lori in frozen NH HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ End of believers-digest V6 #5 ***************************** --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------- This has been a posting from the Susan Werner believers-digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe believers-digest" in the body of the message
