I guess the first one got lost in the mail *grin* Susan cancelled thursday night but was performing on Friday night in Syracuse, NY and Saturday in Rochester, NY. Thanks to my mom's Sunday night Hannukah party I was in Upstate NY already! The setlists for both shows were the same. Stationary, SHades of Grey, Blue Guitar, Too Many Rooms, Misery and Happiness, St. Mary's of Regret, Big Car, Petaluma Afternoons, Tall Drink of Water, Cole Porter, PHilanthropy, No One Needs to Know, Stay on Your Side of Town, Much at All, Seeing you Again, Can't be New. With the first nights encore being Standing in my Own way and May I suggest and the Saturday night encore of Call Me (Nancy Sinatra) and May I Suggest. I now see what Sally meant by Susan's hands being up and down the guitar! For Big Car her hands went from the nut to the base of the fingerboard. Any similies would be a little on the dirty side *grin* so use your imaginations kids. And both nights she played a real piano. On friday night at the Happy Ending cafe it was an older studio piano. On saturday night at twelve corners cafe (just a concert series that is located in a church) she played a steinway concert grand! Susan commented that the Steinway made her feel like she should be playing something more important like Beethoven. Susan was definately sick that weekend. Personally I am surprised that she even performed, atlhough she sounded fine she seemed to be quite tired. During the encore on saturday night she looked a bit like she was going to drop. She said she was sorry that she had to cancel thursday and that it was the first time she cancelled due to illness in the past seven years. She says she will do something to make it up to the folks who missed out... I bet she will! And to the canadians out there. I met up with a canadian falcon ridge camper on saturday who asked susan about what's going on with the Toronto date. Susan said she will be in Ontario in April for several concerts and festivals and is working on being booked in Toronto again. hope that that was enough of a review! Happy Hannukah to everyone to whom it applies to out there. ~simona Simona L.
