[Gregg Subject: virus fever, or Time Between Badtrans ..... Ok, sorry about that subject line ...... Dennis, and others thanks for the "Badtrans" warning and article. One thing though, no one has mentioned (or I missed it) that this particularly potent email Trojan Horse type virus only exploits the vulnerability in versions 5.01 and 5.5 of MS I.E./ Outlook / Outlook Express. MS has posted full information about the virus and a patch to fix versions 5.01 / 5.5, http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/security/virus/badtrans.asp but by far the best defense is to update to MS I.E. /Outlook /Express version 6.0 Version 6.0 of I.E. / Outlook / Outlook Express are NOT vulnerable to the current strain of the Badtrans virus. Sophos also posted detailed instructions for removing the infection and a free cleaning utility here: http://www.sophos.com/support/faqs/w32badtransb.html and finally, as the MS site reminds, make sure you have the most up-to-date virus definitions and anti-virus updates from any anti virus programs (such as Norton/Symantec, MacAfee), or at least that they are post 11/23/01, the first know date of the Badtrans propagation. have a safe and virus free holiday! One thing in particular sticks in my craw - it was perhaps the best performance of "Big Car" that I've ever seen her do! I swear, she was up and down the neck of that guitar just like a ... well, I can't think of a good simile. (Well, I can think of one, but this is a family list.) >;) But her hand was so deft, and the chords were so powerful! Her execution of this song was so right on the money, I just want to say "Boy Howdy!" (And that's authentic, because I grew up in Ohio.) Also a "Woo-eee!" - --Sally _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ End of believers-digest V5 #262 ******************************* --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------- This has been a posting from the Susan Werner believers-digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe believers-digest" in the body of the message
