It was a self-filmed documentary of Mick's current goings on. At one point Mick is walking through a park in England and a 9-year old girl comes up to him and says, "You're the lead singer of the Rolling Stones, aren't you?" "Yes," Mick says. "Well," says the girl, "Do you know that Britney Spears copied your song 'Satisfaction'?" "Yes," replies Mick. "Well, what I wanted to know is did she ask you first?" "No," says Mick, "You don't have to ask permission. Once you record a song, anyone can record it without your permission." and Mick should know, just ask all the old Blues and R&B guys the Stones "borrowed from," er, recorded w/o permission .............. Susan is in Rockford, IL tonight. Yesterday someone lit himself on fire in one of the shopping malls there. The most bizarre part of the news story I read about the incident was the paragraph which began, "This is not the first time an area resident has set themselves on fire ..." I'm glad I haven't had to go there for work in almost a year... ======================================= Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth "an eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind" -- mahatma gandhi ======================================= Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://www.smoe.org/meth/muzak.html HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 Nov 2001 21:37:45 -0800 From: "Ron Rosen" Subject: Re: Thanksgiving Well maybe Susan has set the place on fire in a different way. Here's a link that explains this virus http://www.sarc.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.badtrans.b@mm.html I think I got rid of mine. Here's what I did: I shut down windows are restarted in MS-Dos. From there go to the windows\system or windows\systems directory (i'm not sure if Systems is plural or not). In that directory erase a file called kernel32.exe. I think that is the offending file. I rescanned using McAfee and it did not show as infected after I did this, so I think it might work HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 Nov 2001 21:52:06 -0800 From: "Ron Rosen" Subject: Holly Cole Susan suggested that I check out Holly Cole as someone who does great covers. I got one CD called Temptation which is all Tom Waits stuff and another on called Dark Dear Heart. Holly is very earthy and jazz oriented. A lot of her treatment of these songs is very similar to what Susan did with Everybody's Talkin' - I wouldn't be surprised if Susan was trying to capture that same feeling. I would heartily second this. Holly Cole is a stunning interpreter of songs ... she is not a songwriter and makes no bones about it, but man, can she take a song and make it her own. She's done all sorts of styles, though she got started with her jazz group the Holly Cole Trio. She's great. ======================================= Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth "an eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind" -- mahatma gandhi ======================================= Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://www.smoe.org/meth/muzak.html HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ End of believers-digest V5 #252 ******************************* --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------- This has been a posting from the Susan Werner believers-digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe believers-digest" in the body of the message
