(kelli lin any desire to meet me in noho and drive together from there?) well that is it for now enjoy this warm day all tony(a) _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 Nov 2001 09:13:03 -0500 From: strange little woj Subject: Re: songs..books and xmas when we last left our heroes, Sdgold60@aol.com exclaimed: >who will be in the messiah this year.. we dont know... yet... well, we do know that jane siberry will be back -- or she says on her website's tour page...dunno about anyone else though. woj p.s. mosh, you're *always* my hero HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 Nov 2001 09:44:49 EST From: PBCoustic@aol.com Subject: Re: Susan's Santa Baby Brilliant.... comic genius... Mosh, if you're reading Arthurians (and _The Once and Future King_ is one of my all-time favorite books), you might check out Kay's "Fionavar Tapestry" trilogy (_The Summer Tree_, _The Wandering Fire_, _The Darkest Road_)--another favorite. >> and add another take on this - Thomas Berger's _Arthur Rex_ - not a modern setting, just Berger's usual slightly skewed view of things. in the changer at the moment: NNF Janis Ian "God and the FBI" (my 3 yr old grandson fell in love with the snippet of Latin chant at the end of the ?2nd? track - I know, strange kid.) Leo Kottke, "One guitar, no voices" in the car: Cheryl Wheeler - a homemade mix tape (no CD in the car - yet!) Its amazing how Susan says so much in this line with so few words. Nine words, but it says a lot. >> I think this, along with the amazing versatility, is my favorite Susan characteristic - to be able to not just paint a visual picture, but to give you the feel of a total place and time. This is a talent that she keeps developing - look at the difference between "midwestern saturday night" and "barbed wire boys". Other ones that give you a whole feeling of a place-time-mindset with just a few lines: Bad President Bonsai St Mary's My Mother's Garden hmmmm.....appears this kicks in most when she is writing about her roots..... Ron, thanks for the great new lyrics! Someone make sure that Suze sees this, please? What a riot! And Susan and Ellis doing "Baby it's cold...." - might be interesting. I really loved the ?George Benson? duet version that came out about 2 years ago. (someone remember the details on that - the one with all the spoken ad-lib stuff at the end?) I've started to encounter performers/bands that are expanding their "product line" that they have for sale at shows... At the recent Sara Hickman show she had such things as SaraStickers, Xmas cards (co-created by Sara), songbooks, and other stuff for anywhere from $2 on up, besides the CDs... GrooveLily is another group that does this... It seems to be an excellent way to bring in a bit more income at shows, from two standpoints -- not everyone is going to have $15 or more to spend on CDs, but they might just have $4-$5 (especially after tickets and food/beverage) left on 'em, and it also creates something else to get once you've got all the CDs, helping offset the "market saturation" issue... (unless, of course, you're buying 20 copies of "NNF" to contribute to national distribution, as several great Listers are doing) Personally, I'd love to see SW-related bumperstickers and buttons (and bring back the t-shirts!!!)... Perhaps ones that say: " I Love Straightening Paintings" " Hold On Both Hands, Don't Let Go" " Happiness Will STILL Look Down Your Shirt" " My Other Car Is A Big, Big Car" " Who Is Ron Rosen, and Why Does He Do The Things He Does?" " Thanks Jane!!!" Any other ones come to mind????
