[oh, that my life was filled with such complicated decisions ;-)>] to compound the situation, i only had about a ten minute drive to school, so it wasn't as if i could have just driven around switching cds. in the end, the player's gravitational pull around susan weakened enough for me to put kris in for the drive, then i sat in the parking lot listening to lori's "fireflies" and "pink sweater". susan has, of course, regained control of the car player, but kris and lori are now firmly set in the house player (along with a great double disc of tori's recent boston show [courtesy of a wonderful list member :-)>]) rock on! stephen/MOSH "Kings, Gods, and Heroes - Maybe their day is over, but I can't believe it." - John Steinbeck HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 Nov 2001 08:31:13 -0500 From: Bob Scott Subject: Latest Music Addictions First, Simona thanks for kicking this discussion off. Red Delicious: Emotional Blur / Acoustic Blur Steely Dan: Two Against Nature Vania Abreu: Seioda Bahia With the exception of Red Delicious, you can probably hear samples of all this on Amazon. RD is, I think, still available at MP3.com but I heard they'd signed a label deal so it may be elsewhere. Lee, do you have info on this show, such as how to get tickets, and even where the U.A.I. is? Musi-Cal has this date on Susan's itinerary, but neither susanwerner.com nor flemtam.com have it listed. That would indicate to me that the show isn't happening, as one would expect the booking agency to know what's what. :/ We're heading down to Piermont soon ... Songs like this (and "Sunday Kind of Love", which came later) are one of the reasons I've seen her so many times. I just *love* watching Susan do an entire song where that beaming smile of hers never leaves her face. And when she asked the audience what movie it was from, I can't believe that I was the only person who called out "Pinocchio"... > Call me Unreasonable "Call Me Irresponsible." And I think all she sang of this was the title. She mentioned that the night before she had done a show in Ann Arbor with an Academy Awards theme, and she had researched all of the AA winners, and said that while she found a lot of good songs like "Call Me Irresponsible", there were bad ones... like... > There's Got To Be A Morning After > You Light Up My Life > Memories > Love Soft As An Easy Chair She pointed out the similarities in those last two songs-- the actual titles are "The Way We Were" and "Evergreen." Said Susan, "I think she (Streisand) only has one key. It's a really good key, but..." > That Natalie Imbroglia song, you know the one "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion-- SW's choice for the worst Academy Award winning song of all time! I spoke to Dave; wish I'd run into you, Bern! I did run into an old college chum who has all of Susan's albums but had never seen her live. After the show, he, his date and I spent five minutes talking about how astonishingly good Susan was and about all the issues her music brings up. We talked about her comment that "St. Mary's" was a love song written by someone in her twenties while "Misery & Happiness" was a love song written by someone in her thirties. "Boy, she's really seen it all, hasn't she?" he said. A great night. Picked up the new cd, and finally heard "May I Suggest" for the first time. Plus, I think I may have finally figured out the guitar pattern of "St. Mary's" after all these years... capo V, drop D tuning... - -Tim HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 12 Nov 2001 00:46:05 -0500 From: meredith Subject: Re: Chattanooga Concert?
