I have already received several wonderful entries from fellow listers and even some celebrity responses! I would appreciate any suggestions on what folk celebrities or other people who may want to contribute and who they are. The website URL is http://susanwernerscrapbook.tripod.com/susanwernerscrapbook/ if you have a problem with that there is a link on my personal page www.geocities.com/loberant that will lead you to the scrapbook page. It only takes minute, and you will be in good company when you contribute. I have gotten entries from people of varying ages and, my personal favorite, one from the famouse Christine Lavin (i nearly jumped from my seat when I saw it!) So be like Christine Lavin and send in an entry. You can use the form or you can email me or you can snail mail me too. thanks y'all... i can't wait to see what you will write. ~Simona L. ===== Simona L. These could be favorites which didn't make it onto NNF. They could be Werner compositions or covers she's known to have done. In keeping with the "book" theme, perhaps it could be called _Remainders_ or something like that. Here's some songs I wish would have made it onto NNF: Karla Faye (Mary Gauthier cover, is that woman awesome or what?) Shot Tower Perigee (is that the 'In Brazil I Had No Shadow' song?) See The Body Boy From East Dubuque Tall Drink Of Water First World Woman Gypsy Lips, Vagabond Heart/Senate of Love Year of the Bad President Dow Re Mi (Perhaps a "hidden" track at the end to escape the copyright Police?) Any other suggestions? No, Perigee is about the moon. Brazil is the one that begins 'In Brazil I Had No Shadow'. See http://www.bluecalabash.com.au/sw/index.cfm > See The Body Great song. > Boy From East Dubuque Cute for a show, but not for a CD. > Tall Drink Of Water Maybe will be on the "standards" album. > First World Woman > Gypsy Lips, Vagabond Heart/Senate of Love Gypsy Lips, Vagabond Mouth > Year of the Bad President One of my favorites. > Dow Re Mi (Perhaps a "hidden" track at the end to escape the copyright Police?) This is another explanation that I don't buy: that the reason this wasn't recorded was due to copyright problems. There is no law against covering a song or doing a parody of a song. The original writers cannot stop you if they wanted to. As I understand it, all you have to do is fill out some forms and pay the appropriate fees. If someone wanted to do it, it could easily be done. Personally I think the song is too topical and too much comedy for an album, but the explanation reminds me of another explanation that I've heard lately that didn't make a lot of sense. We loved it!!!!! It was fantastic. I wrote the setlist in the dark and can't read it now. Highlights; St Mary's of Regret (w/Ellis Paul accompanyment), PHILANTHROPY! (Love that new song - I felt like I was dreaming). New NonFiction (got 4 copies of it - One we kept - One sent to Rona in Dunstable - the other two will give as gifts). I taped it to listen to in my boombox in my little crappy red Toyota that all 4 speakers are broken in so I can't play tapes any more. 5:45 this am - on my way to work - Boombox ate tape in the middle of "Stationary" (which reminds me a lot of "Squeeze" (the former UK Squeeze and then dropped the UK to just become Squeeze and had a string of hits including "Pulling Muscles from a Shell")). I love everything on the CD! And I really have a great thing going with "It's Okay (To Feel Good)" because it's the ONE song on the CD that I haven't yet heard performed (well - and Everybody's Talkin'). The main thing I love about this CD is that we feel we were part of it. We strarted listening to Susan right after TBT was released (Christine Lavin DEMANDED that we buy it and later gave a copy to us at a concert - but we already had one so we gave it to a friend who was with us). From there we worked backward, and became aquainted with Susan's past. All the while seeing and hearing the future at the dozen or so concerts we attended since then. I remember hearing the lot of these songs performed for "the first time'. There is NOTHING dissapointing on this CD. Misery & Happiness -- I gotta stop typing now. Gotta go listen to it and make another tape and hope the boom box don't eat it again or I'll have to toss it out the window and buy a new one!
