New Non-Fiction [Carolyn Andre Subject: RE: SF help redux Sherlyn (and anybody else coming to San Francisco), If you can make it to San Francisco by October 20, it will be much easier to go to the show in Berkeley(12 miles from SF) than Santa Cruz (90 miles from SF). There are excellent public transportation options to Berkeley from San Francisco, as well. You can email me privately for directions. New Non-Fiction ok, I know it's rude to tease ... a friend & I thoroughly enjoyed the first of the 2 Ellis & Susan shows at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago on Saturday night. Quite a nice way to end a cool & crisp fall day. (Only thing better would have been to have bought tix to both shows ...) First - a heads-up to those collecting $ for CD purchases - the new one is $16, not 15. Second - here in Chicago at least they were taking credit cards; I think it was Susan & not the Old Town School. Also, Chicago was the first night of CD sale, I guess. Track list & title as posted by Charlie. Now I have to apologize for not providing the show set list & review ... I got sidetracked with a combination of technical problems with my PC and a deadline on a website update I'm doing for a CD release ... so, ... Yes, Susan came out during Ellis' set and joined him for 3000 miles &, if I recall, another song. Her set included: stationary shade of grey (new non fiction) this yellow house St. Mary's of Regret Misery Bonsai - ----------------------- then back to the 'serious' set ... Big Big Car - -------------- then the piano set - - Cool Drink of Water - - Cole Porter - - an uptempo song comparing love to winning the lottery / money in the bank (?? can't recall details from prior set lists) - - segue to the breakup song: Much At All - - North Side / South Side (stay on your side of Town) Since it obviously had Chicago references, afterwards she mentioned trying out several alternative verses with local street references... (Diversey, Milwaukee) back to the guitar for her formal closer - Standing in My Own Way Encore - Ellis & Susan: - - the Woody Guthrie "Way Over Younder in the Minor key" as reported in the Lawrence, KS show - - Let it Be Susan was in great voice, and back to the strong delivery voice that I enjoy. The Ellis/Susan harmonies on these last two were truly wonderful! oh - 2 acoustic guitars only, the Martin & the smaller one. And she "did an Amy Ray" at the end - breaking one of her lower strings.
