I think the word that best describes my anticipation is "WHOOHOO!" BTW, did anybody else order tickets for the Seattle Susan/Ellis show online? I placed my order last week but haven't received my confirmation yet. It's a little worrying because I also wanted to purchase Christine Lavin tickets online through the same ticket agency. Maybe they don't like my Australian credit card or something... Also, it looks like I won't be at the Eugene or Portland shows after all. Thanks to all the folks who sent me info though. But, I *will* be down in SF for the shows in Berkeley. Is there anybody on this list who'll be driving down from Berkeley/SF to Santa Cruz for the show and who has room for one more in the car? :) sherlyn ps - WHOOHOO! - -- Sherlyn Koo - sherlyn@fl.net.au "So I promise to grab my soul And leave my ego at the door, I'm gonna open up my eyes..." - Melissa Ferrick HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 2 Oct 2001 17:40:01 -0400 From: "Charlie Sweeney" Subject: CD available on.... Everybody's Talkin' (Fred Neil !!!) No question marks here. Let's talk about Fred Neil. Fred died last July at age 65. He was one of the most influential folk singers of the early '60s Greenwich Villiage scene, influencing many of 60s folk rockers. Jefferson Airplane's Paul Kantner was influenced by Fred and they performed his "Other Side of this Life" as part of their regular shows. They also recorded songs called House at Poohneil Corner and The Ballad of You and Me and Poohneil in his honor. Fred was a big influence on John Sebastian of the Lovin' Spoonful, who played with Fred, and Judy Henske, who recorded several of his songs. Fred Neil wrote Roy Orbison's Candy Man, a song called That's the Bag I'm In, a very stirring song called Tear Down the Walls, and The Dolphins. For a taste of The Dolphins go to www.fredneil.com and listen to the music that comes up automatically... "I'm not the one to tell this world, how to get along. I only know that peace will come when all hate is gone. I've been searchin' for the Dolphin in the sea..." Everybody's Talkin' was a Fred Neil song that was recorded by Harry Nillson for the movie Midnight Cowboy in 1968-69 and became a top 10 hit. Nillson had originally written a song called I Guess The Lord Must Be in New York City that was to be the theme of the movie, but it just didn't have the right feel, so Neil's Everybody's Talkin' was chosen instead. For those of you who cannot wait to get your hands on the new album, I will take a reasonable number of "orders." Use some discretion. If SW is coming to your town in 2 months, you can probably wait. On the other hand, if SW just came to your town and won't be back for 8 months, then are are just what we're looking for. Here's the drill - assuming the CD is $15, media mail (which can take up to 2 weeks) is $2.30. So you send me $17.50. I'll send you the CD. If you want it sent Priority Mail, you send me $18.50. (I'll let you know if postal rates change.) I must have your check by October 18. Contact me privately for my address. I will not accept any "orders" that have not been prearranged with me via email. If they run out of CDs at the show, orders will be filled in the order received unless you offer me something of great momentary (!! send photo) or long-lasting value. If your check bounces, and you don't make good on it, you will be seriously trashed and humiliated publicly by someone with limited inhibitions, and who is also an experience litigator who brought Microsoft to its knees. You don't want this to happen. Now, since Susan will be doing several shows all over this great country of ours around that time, I hope several others of you will make a similar offer so that the burden does not fall on just one or two of us. In other words, all you folks who are going to shows after the release date, make a similar offer.
