Hoped for that UK tour but it never happened as yet! How about it? We are coming to NYC (staying near Central Park) for a few days from Monday, - - first ever trip to USA...and I looked hopefully whether Susan is performing anywhere there, but no luck! Perhaps, however, some of you could recommend some music venues for us to check out ..or any artistes we may be able to see who may appeal to people like us who love Susan's type of thing..... First off, there are free concerts on Monday (Steve Earl) and Wednesday (Erin McKeown and the Nields) which are definitely worth seeing and free to boot. Times and such for these shows will be available when you complete the next step Next step: go to http://musi-cal.com and in the search engine select "city" Type in New York, NY and a ton of shows will pop up. Of particular interest will be shows at FEZ, Makor, the Living Room, The Bottom line. Anyone else know of some venues to suggest? Make international calls for as low as $.04/minute with Yahoo! Well, on the subject of free concerts -- the World Trade Center (Church Street between Vesey and Liberty Streets) has free lunchtime and after work concerts on certain days. During August, I think the evening concerts are Celtic. Unfortunately, I could get to the link during the day - when I can't post to this list -- but now that I'm at home, I can't, so I can only post one impending date -- this Tuesday 14th at 6 p.m., Susan McKeown and Johnny Cunningham (formerly of Silly Wizard & Celtic Fiddle Festival) will perform. trad/contemporary/progressive celtic with great vocals & Johnny's fiddling. (http://susanmckeown.com/smktour.shtml does have the link to the WTC site, then pick Concerts from the left menu for more details) As to venues - from Charlie's list - http://www.feznyc.com/ has an online calendar. Some pretty cool music next week - Dan Bern (perhaps an acquired taste, but definitely to be heard at least once) and Felix McTeigue on Tuesday, Freedy Johnston, Bootleg Remedy, Bliss Blood (of the Moonlighters) on Wednesday .. Neither location is near Central Park -- both are rather further down Manhattan -- but both are easily accessible from the subway. (Fez - Astor Place, and there is a WTC stop, plus there's a station just up along the Park from the Plaza Hotel ... hard to be more specific from here in Chicago; I just find my way there).
