Susan was absolutely great. The highlight of the FRFF, both on the mainstage and workshop stage. Pete Kennedy said that Susan at a folk festival was slumming. My only regret is not getting to meet her again. Well I'll see her in Columbus on 9/25. One of those reasons, and a really important one is virus protection. It is very likely that someone on the list has been infected with the sircam worm, and it keeps smacking up against the demime program trying to get in. If you *are* infected, October 16th could be a really bad day for you. Here's a link to Symantic's analysis of the worm. http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.sircam.worm@mm.html E-mail is kind of like dishes. And Susan says "You can't do my dishes wuthout rubber gloves" heh-heh Charlie Sweeney (=}===# Virtual Guitarist-Something Black http://somethingblack.com http://susanwerner.com http://karensavoca.com http;//xfsmusic.org HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 06 Aug 2001 19:17:55 -0500 From: Kellie Lin Knott Subject: Lost Emails - (non-SW content) Hi All - I just moved back to Boston (yesterday) from Minnesota - and today, while setting up my computer, discovered that my email address book is blank - along with all the mail i had not yet replied to, sent mail, and just about everything else. I had tons of stuff in there, so I'm pretty bummed out. Anyway, I was just writing because many of the addresses I'd like to put back in the address book are from people on this list. Sooooooo, if you have a chance to drop me a quick line with your e-addie, I'd appreciate it. Also - anyone have Paul Kim's email address? Anyone planning on going to hear Mary Chapin Carpenter play on August 18? Lemme know.... Thanks much, ya'll! kellie lin HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 6 Aug 2001 22:33:17 -0700 From: "Ron Rosen" Subject: Susan rocks the Dar List I was just looking through several of the post-FRFF messages on the Dar List, and a rather significant number of Dar-listers, who I expect are more partial to Dar than Susan, have said, what Sharon and I have already, that Susan was the highlight of Falcon Ridge. It's good to know that others share what I experienced, and that my perception of Susan's specialness when I first came across her seven years ago in a Nashville club was dead on the money. One of the things I noticed, and liked, was that because Susan was playing to such a diverse audience who were not necessarily fans, she did all her songs "straight" - pretty much like they appear on the albums. Some, but not as much jazzing them up as she does in the small clubs. It was an interesting surprise to hear Susan doing Ode to Billy Joe. At first I thought she was just clowning and would break into something else, but it didn't take long to realize that she was going for it. A couple days later I heard an interview with Gene Pitney on one of the Boston stations. Gene Pitney was one of my favorite sixties song stylists. I was thinking that it would be fun to hear Susan do a Gene Pitney cover. Can you imagine Susan belting out Town Without Pity? Susan, Jane, are you listening? If not, someone please float this idea to her.
