Amen. Awesome. All I can say. Susan outdid herself. Just outstanding. I think everybody plays better there because they are all together - espectially when they are doing a song swap. I came to appreciate Gorka more - what a great voice and great writer. Mary Gautier is a great writer about the downcast of sociey - she's country. There were so may great talents there. The Nields electric are great. EFO is awesome playing to a crowd of was it 10,000 or 20,000. The World Music of Entrain. The finger picking of Jeff Lang. I really liked Kevin So. Lucy K has such a great voice. Vance Gilbert is so funny. Tom Landa and the Paperboys are great. I came to appreciate Erin McKeown - I really like her when she's playing electric. She has great energy and is great fun. Only disappointment was Dar Williams on stage. She didn't really have it that night although she's an amazing poet and great writes great melodies. She was better when I saw her at the Birchmere. Personal highlights: Susan kissing me on the check when I came up to say hello. That's a new one!!. Running into Robbie of EFO on the way out to get something from my car and him remembering meeting me in LA. I told him that after seeing them play to 10,000, the small clubs don't do them justice. He said the Eastern gigs, with 500 in attendance are better than the small clubs on the west coast. Meeting and chatting quite awhile with Charlie Sweeney, who is just one really nice guy. Meeting Sharon, Meredith, woj, Sherlyn and a whole bunch of others from the Dar list. (Forgive me if I forgot anyone). Discovering New England radio, the River, and the folk station in Boston. There's nothing like those stations out here. I met a new friend on Sunday who was not very familiar with Susan. My friend really liked Susan and said Susan sounded like she'd had a hard road behind her. That's probably why I can relate to her music so well. SW got all choked up on stage when saying that Falcon Ridge was like a family to her. She again proved that she stands out from the others in her musical ability, her voice, and her soul. I did not expect this. I expected that she would be one of several favorites, but she proved to me again why I love her the best. And when you realize all the amazing talent that was there, to say Susan rose above it is saying a lot. A whole lot. It would be hard not to go to FRFF again next year. Real hard.
