I was at that same show in Bryn Mawr (the late show), and I must disagree. Erin was wonderful, with great stage presence and songs. A total charmer. (I agree about the sound system, though.) Jian was good, but his interaction with the other two was what made the show. I wouldn't want to see him play solo. Andy was the disappointing one in this trio. Together, they were often hysterical-- like a more casual version of Moxy Fruvous. - -Tim HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at World Cafe CDs http://worldcafecds.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 4 Apr 2001 06:33:51 -0700 From: "Ron Rosen" Subject: Re: Just Folkin' Around > I was at that same show in Bryn Mawr (the late show), and I must disagree. > Erin was wonderful, with great stage presence and songs. A total charmer. (I > agree about the sound system, though.) Well, if I ever get the chance, I'll give her another try. You should know that the first time I ever saw Big Brother and the Holding Company in a cafeteria at the Stanford freshman dorms in early 1967, I said, "They're a pretty good band, but they really don't need that unattractive woman singer." On the subject of people having different perceptions, there was a young woman at my table in Bryn Mawr who said she liked Susan Werner's music, but she did not like to see her live because she never makes eye contact with the audience -- is always either looking at her instrument or down at the stage. I said, "That's totally not my experience. Susan's gaze is usually riveted on several members of the audience, including me." It was difficult to believe that we were talking about the same person.
