In the body write the address to which you'd like the discs mailed, and state whether B&P or include your trade list or its URL if that is your intention. Branches follow the same routine but email to your lead branch (single digit immediately above your name). The five lead branches will hear from admin directly. Branches write to their leaves and lead branches to their branches sending their postal address. So, to look at the first block of the tree: 1. Heatbit2@aol.com 1.01 "lew" 1.011 Kris Richardson 1.012 e.bean@neu.edu 1.013 Rebecca Bishop 1.014 "Mosh" Kris, e.bean, Rebecca and "Mosh" email "lew", "lew" writes to Heatbit2, and Heatbit2 will hear from admin. Heatbit2 emails 'Lew" (and the other two branches), "lew" writes to Kris, e.bean, Rebecca and "Mosh". Maintain communication with your tree 'partner' by email confirmation of mailing date and also receipt of discs. Now is the right time to prepare envelopes and blanks for B&P. Some of you who frequent Susan's shows in New London and Peterborough may remember Susan playing at the Newport Opera House in Newport, NH, a few years back. It was a great show, and the venue is a beautiful old opera house with fantastic acoustics. I'm in the process of trying to convince the director to book Susan for this coming Summer or Fall, and I thought I might better persuade him if I got a lot of responses from list members showing interest in attending this gig. Yes, there's something in this for me too, as I run sound for all of the shows at the Opera House. Thanks for your help folks! FYI, John Gorka will be in Newport on May 25th. Tickets are available by calling 603-863-2412. While we continually appreciate all your support (the attendance at shows has been great) I have a request that I hope you'll understand and honor with regard to taping the shows. It's very cool that the tree is taking off and everyone is enjoying the "bootlegs" ,however, Susan and I have discussed some guide lines with regard to taping the shows that we feel will eliminate some negatives that have come up-here they are: *Please come to the show at showtime if you are taping. Please do not come at sound check. This interferes with the sound check which is often rushed to begin with. *Please do not ask the sound man / woman if you can plug into the board, it is a distraction for them (as stated by them) and we all want them focused on Susan. *Please do not tape wires/microphones to the walls of any venue. Someone recorded the show in Minneapolis last weekend and had a stand in the back of the room with his mics on it-this is the way to go rather than taping anything to venue walls. *If you have CD's you'd like to send to Susan please send them to her c/o Golden Guru Entertainment 765 Farnum Road Media, PA 19063 *Please do not give Susan the CD's at the show, they will probably get lost (there's just too much going on and it will probably be left in the green room or something). Thanks thanks thanks and hope to see you somewhere soon! They told me it was sold out. On a hunch, I took a cab over there and found out that there were a few tickets available at the box office, so I was able to get in. I really enjoyed Dar Williams whom I had never heard before either on CD or live. Lots of really good songs. Lots of screaming college girls!! In the hallway outside of the concert hall I found Susan's poster with the following inscription from Susan: "To the Birch: Thanks for so many wonderful nights. Sounds like a boyfriend?!!!" On Friday night I was in Bryn Mawr, PA, right down the road from Susan's old stomping grounds. I saw 3 Song Circus at The Point. Again, both shows were sold out, but I was able to get a ticket from someone in line. 3 Song Circus consists of Jian Ghomeshi, from Moxy Fruvous, Erin McKeown, and Andy Stochanski. The format was each doing a song in turn while the others played bass, drums or guitar and sang backup. They also had a guy, Les Cooper perhaps, who did a good job on lap steel and electric guitar on some songs. I really liked Jian. He has great stage presence and good songs. I did not think that Erin McKeown or Andy Stochanski were at the same level as Jian as performers or songwriters. There were times when the three of them were playing together that my thought was, "they sound like any local band you might see at any local club anywhere." Erin's lyrics were difficult to hear, either intentionally or because she wasn't aware of how the sound system was picking up her voice. I really didn't like her songs, her voice, or her stage persona, although she is a fairly decent guitar player. In my opinion, Jian doing a solo show would be a far better.
