I try to keep a couple of copies on hand to give to friends who seem interested in Susan's music. It's usually enough to get them hooked, it throws a couple of bucks back to Susan and you get a SECRET BONUS: Most recipients assume that I'm so well hooked up that I get them free from Susan or her label - live the life of a record mogul for $20! :-) Bob HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at Amazon ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Jan 2001 12:33:33 -0500 (EST) From: Leslie Dreyer Kalra Subject: Re: Tape Trading (what's a 'tape', daddy?) I used to do the same thing (when I actually got to concerts). At one concert I bought so many for friends (it was close to Christmas) that the person selling them looked at me suspiciously and said, "you're not going to sell these, are you?" Susan got a bunch of new fans that Christmas... leslie On Sat, 20 Jan 2001, Bob Scott wrote: > If you want to share Susan's commercial CD's with someone, buy a > handful of "Live at Tin Angel" and TBT discs at the next show. Fred Neil was a very influential song writer in the early 60s and was a very big influence on Jefferson Airplane. "What with Nillson's version of "Everybody's Talkin'", and Jefferson Airplane version of "The Other Side Of This Life", and the far reaching influences on Crosby, Stills, Kantner, and Parsons (Gram appears on the live version of "You Don't Miss Your Water" - a real treat!); and the many good reviews of the 2 CD set Collectors Choice imprint, it was only a matter of time before I bought this set. Fred Neil is inestimable. He ranks right up there with Leonard Cohen is a slightly bizarre original talent who dabbles in the folk/blues/raga genres. Yes, there are 8-9 minutes songs on here. Having lived with the covers of Harry Nillson's "Everybody's Talkin'" since 1969's MIDNIGHT COWBOY; as well as the Airplane's "The Other Side Of This Life" since the early seventies, I now can appreciate the original versions (as well as live, more fully) presented on this CD set. Man - Fred Neil blows me away."
