There two new dates, and a personal request from Susan. Feel free to cut and paste that request to anyone you feel might be willing to lend their voice in the cause of justice. Added Schedule Dates: 1/26/01 The house 263 east Lincoln highway DeKalb, ILn 60115 9;30pm showtime TIX: 815-748-2880 1/27/01 Schubas 3159 North Southport chicago, IL 60657 tix: 773-525-2508 A personal request from Susan: hi everybody, happy new year. last weekend i played in framingham, mass., and our friend Ric brought this to my attention: leonard peltier is an american indian whose trial and conviction of the murder of two FBI agents 25 years ago is widely suspected to be a Frame-Up. i'm sure many of you are aware of his name and his cause, but if you're not you can read about him at http://freepeltier.org his case has been one of the relatively few brought forward by Amnesty International as an example of injustice here in the States (along with the Death Penalty, which continues of course, and is cheerfully supported by our president elect) - and for all our buddhist friends, the dalai lama supports leonard, as does bishop desmond tutu for all you episcopalians (is he an episcopalian?) - point is, we folkie types talk and sing a great deal about justice but here's a chance to do something simple about it. president clinton will enjoy (until the 20th of january) a window of opportunity to grant clemency, pardons, and commutations of sentences, etc. he has already taken action in other ways, protecting forest lands from logging, for instance - there's a very real chance he'll take action on leonard's behalf. so please call the white house comment line during the day at 202 456 1111 - you may have to hold, i had to wait about 2 minutes - and register your request for clemency for leonard peltier. 'cause singing only goes so far. :-) thanks everybody - - -s- (Editor's note: You can also send the message through the above referenced URL.
