Susan was in a much more rambunctious mood last night in Framingham. Kellie, I hope the size of the crowd was acceptable to you and to Sally. :) Unfortunately the auditorium was its own circle in acoustic hell, but the sound guy did manage to clean as much mud out of the morass as he could. I think the sound was better up in the balcony, which is where we ended up. Too bad about the piano, though - it was a cute little baby grand, but it was way out of tune and some of the keys (not to mention the pedals) were very sticky. Susan didn't get too perturbed by it, though, and the piano portion of the set was as lovely as ever. We got treated to quite a few new songs, as Susan spent her holiday break writing. The standout for me was the one about "bringing you home", a story about going home to Iowa with a new love in the hope that "maybe it will explain me some". Suprises of the set were "St. Mary's Of Regret", which I haven't heard in a long time, and the closer of the encore, a jazzy, soulful rendition of Crowded House's "Don't Dream It's Over". Tasty. Afterward the Believers who hung around got to sing Jane "happy birthday", and share in the cupcakes George and his wife Susan brought along. Jane was sufficiently embarrassed. >on another note, i had a cnace to talk with jane a bit after the show. she >mentioned that she has spent some time up in seattle recently trying to get >involved in missionary work to india. has anyone else heard about this? has >anyone seen her around in seattle? i was just wondering if this was something >that she's been thinking about for a long time or what. Well, since she talked to you about it I guess I can post some clarification. This is indeed why she went to Seattle. After several years of traveling around North America she felt she needed to do something a bit more meaningful with her life. She went to Seattle to join a center that prepares people for missionary work overseas (can't remember the name of it). Unforunately it didn't work out for her to be able to do that, so she had to come back. She seems pretty content with the way things turned out, though. (I'm glad she's back, even though it means I'm out of a job. :) +==========================================================================+ | Meredith Tarr meth@smoe.org | | New Haven, CT USA http://www.smoe.org/~meth | +==========================================================================+ | "things are more beautiful when they're obscure" -- veda hille | | *** TRAJECTORY, the Veda Hille mailing list: *** | | *** http://www.smoe.org/meth/trajectory.html *** | +==========================================================================+ HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at songs.com ------------------------------ End of believers-digest V5 #4 ***************************** --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------- This has been a posting from the Susan Werner believers-digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe believers-digest" in the body of the message
