Is this permanent, or just for a few shows? I'm thinking it's permanent; maybe not for every show, but Susan said we'd see Jane again here in St. Louis, when I spoke with her following the November show at Washington University (which Jane was not at). I never did get a chance to write a review of that show. Unfortunately, this won't be a review but rather just a few random notes and thoughts (long) afterwards. It was, of course, excellent. Don Conoscenti opened the show, and did an excellent job warming up the crowd. He kept doing things like pointing to the piano and saying, "man, Susan's gonna be sitting right there ... Susan ... right there ... wow" and professing his love for Susan. He was, as always, excellent and very humorous. The setlist was very similar to others recently, she joked about the election, etc. She blew away the audience of perhaps 150 mostly new fans. It was the last in a series put on by Jill Stratton of Washington University's Residential Life Committee. She's the same one who brought Susan here in February (different venue on campus). Others in the series were Stacey Earle, Dave Moore and about 4 other shows I can't remember. Many of the people who came only did so because they were so impressed with one or more of the other shows Jill organized. It was apparent alot of people there weren't familiar with Susan, which was good, she doesn't disappoint! I convinced my sister and her husband to come, and they were extremely impressed. I was afraid all those years of talking about Susan may have led to unreal expectations, but that wasn't the case at all. As my brother-in-law said afterwards, "You'll never have to twist my arm again to see Susan". And now I see she's scheduled back at Washington University in April! Woo-hoo!
