She did not sound like she had any idea of a date, tho. "In the can" is a term picked up from movie production. When movie reels are all printed and ready to go, they're put into those silver "cans" we've all seen... and wait for the release date. > She went on to say that stuff is all recorded, they are > just waiting for the record company to be ready to go ahead. But I don't believe Susan has been in the studio since _Time Between Trains_, so I'm not sure what she meant. In any event, record label silliness is going to delay Werner #5 for quite some time yet, I'm afraid... :( +==========================================================================+ | Meredith Tarr meth@smoe.org | | New Haven, CT USA http://www.smoe.org/~meth | +==========================================================================+ | "things are more beautiful when they're obscure" -- veda hille | | *** TRAJECTORY, the Veda Hille mailing list: *** | | *** http://www.smoe.org/meth/trajectory.html *** | +==========================================================================+ HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at songs.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 Jul 2000 00:32:53 -0400 From: Steve Murphy Subject: Re: Susan rocks the boat Re: Bill Page wrote: (She also does a mean "Potato Song.") Anyone out there who can help? Hi Bill. I think the "Potato" song your Daughter is talking about is by Cheryl Wheeler. It's very funny. It's sung to the tune of the Mexican Hat Dance... She "challenged herself" so that to make the chorus end on each syllable of the word Potato and have it properly end on TO, as opposed to PO or TA. We should see it soon, then. Can't wait. :^) As I've stated, Susan told me last Friday night that the next CD would not be released until sometime in 2001. Last year, she hinted to me that her next release would attempt to replicate the experience of attending a live SW performance. Based on these two bits of info which came straight from Susan's mouth, and the comment (I don't recall the source, Meredith maybe?) that Susan has not been in the studio since recording TBT, I'd venture to guess that the numbers that are "in the can" have been taped during one or more of Susan's live performances. The fact that the company is unwilling to release the CD prior to next year is, I'm sure, as frustrating for Susan as it is for all of us! Any idea what time her performances are? I haven't been to the Toronto area in 20 years and am excited that I can tie in a chance to see Susan Werner, since she doesn't make it out to the left coast very often.
