Caught Susan last night and had a great time. Brought several friends who were blown away. My new favorite tune is "Shades of Grey", a song about "the wisdom of keeping your own council". Has anyone else heard, and fallen in love with, that tune yet? It's an anthem for the single and lost in love, I say. Anyway, see below for a review from my buddy, Will, who caught Susan for the first time last night. >Hi music lovers!!! > >Folk music needn't be mushy. It can caress like a >lullaby without being soporific. It can be vital and >stinging. It can be vulgar. It can make you laugh your >damn guts out. > >Susan Werner's concert last night did all this. > >I saw Susan Werner last night. Not to dis any of you, >honestly, but you all missed a miracle. I met her when >I walked in. There was this groovy looking woman >wearing shades and extending a greeting hand towards >me. It was Susan. When the show started, she performed >a mock introduction of herself, because the MC was out >somewhere doing God knows what. She's (Susan) funny as hell. She started her show, >and for a couple hours she dazzled us with her folk, >bluegrass, rock, and country influences, all with her >own crispy crunchy style. If she was a candy, >I'd...nevermind. But anyway then she sat down at the >keyboard and laid into some real sexy jazz stuff. > >Her art is totally vital and totally human in the best >of ways. > >Listening to the CD right now, >Will Conley > > >===== >The ozone layer or cheese in a spray can?
