Susan is one that I'd have to say straddles the border between the two, she's so good at playing and singing and songwriting... but I've also heard her be very encouraging when talking with fans about their own playing, and offering hints and suggestions... This reminds me of one of my fave Susan moments: When Susan and I were freshmen at Luther College, we had the opportunity to watch a performance of the classical guitarist Christopher Parkening. He performed in the (fairly small) recital hall in LC's music building, and Susan and I were able to sit about twenty or so feet away from him, watching in awe. She sat right in front of me, and after each of the first couple of numbers, she would turn back to look at me as if to say "Wow! I really dig what he's doing! HOW does he do it and make it look so easy?!?" It was great, feeling the same emotions as someone who has gone on to become such a brilliant performer herself!
