I've touched on this a bit on the list before so feel free to read along of you'd like ... The first time I'd ever heard of Susan Werner was when I was planning a trip to Massachusetts to see a David Wilcox concert. I had wanted to see David for a long time and he was playing in Mass with two other people ... Susan Werner and Ellis Paul. I had not heard either of them before but was looking forward to the concert very much. Part of the reason for the trip was also to meet up with a friend I had met online (and once in person) earlier that year. I wasn't even sure if it was a date or not. Turns out it was. Tom had heard only one Susan Werner song on the radio but we both fell instantly in love with her. Ellis was wonderful and it was fabulous to see David finally live. So the weekend ended and I went back to Canada and Tom and I started what would turn out to be a long long-distance relationship. The next time I came down, it was to see Susan in the Boston Common at a folk festival. We spoke to her that day and every time we have seen her since, she remembers us as "the Duck people". There was the time in New Hampshire at an Opera House and then again the next february at the Four Corner's Grill (where I became the unintentional bathroom stalker). We saw her again the summer of 1999 and then not again until this last month at The Muse at the Grey Goose. It was at this show that we were able to talk to Susan again and tell her that we had become engaged the night before. She was actually the first person I told. She had been with us virtually from the beginning. She was gracious and seemed happy and wanted to see the ring of course. Anyway, just a little story that some of you may be interested. I am back in Canada until the INS says that I can move to the states and get married. I'll try and make a few trips down in the meantime (especially if there is a Susan concert in the works). She is playing up here a couple of times this summer so I guess Tom will be making the trek up here too. Thanks for listening ...
