Thanks for that great Review. I agree that Susan is getting better and better and better. Can this trend continue? I can't imagine not, but I can just imagine her face when she said "You've got a really big Pin"! She's halarious. Suzie Tee is a gem amongst gems, but I'm sure you know that. I think that she just should go work for Flem/Tam so she can spread her cheer and artistry to all the great singer songwriters of our day! I don't really chat with her. It's just brief babbling. When I showed her the Attend the Sky card, she said that Suzi T. was really talented. I really wish I could be friends with Susan because she is just so amazing, but we've never hit it off like that. She just looks at me as a fan and, understandably, keeps her distance. I mean I'm sure everybody would like to be her friend. I didn't think Susan would remember me and I would have to go into the whole Nashville rap again, but when she was signing CDs and needed a better pen. I handed her one, as did someone else. She tried them both and decided to use the other one. So she took mine and said, "I think this is Ron's pen." I was very happy that she remembered me from last time she was here. I was babbling at Jane too about flying from SF to LA and how it can take all day. She was appreciative about my email on the subject of SFO air travel that Charlie passed along to her. She has such a hard exterior and is so sweet when you talk to her. Later I was thinking, "Why am I babbling when talking to Jane?" Apparently, there was a "psychic expo" at a hall across from their hotel in Pasadena yesterday. So Susan goes there and finds this guy who has a theory about what musical notes help what psychological issues. She reads from this little pocket-sized pamphet throughout the show between songs and says "let's see, this song is in C, so it's good for dependence, yes that's right, and procrastination, yes, and self-esteem issues, yes." It was hysterical. Toward the end of the set she threw the pamphlet down on the stage, as if to say "F*** the theory," and may never see it or use it again. When I was talking to Jane and swiping the set list, I forgot to look for the pamphlet. I was hoping Susan would keep it and use it at upcoming shows, but the amazing thing about her is that she's so curious, she always finds something interesting to talk about. Also, this pamphlet kept her from making derogatory remarks about the downpour we're having in So Cal or about Pasadena. She did make a few remarks about Dallas -- like she couldn't sing Sorry About Jesus or J.C. Ain't I Lonely Tonight at the Methodist Church there. All my friends really liked her -- Duh!! One friend who's a guitar player in our rock jam and is into the Doors, Bob Seeger, Pink Floyd, etc. wants to figure out the open tuning she uses on Bad President and maybe even learn the song for our jam. Now the question is -- what does a 51 year old lawyer in Southern California do with a piece of folded binder paper hastily and poorly ripped (missing the top hole entirely) from a spiral notebook that happens with Susan's cryptic set list on it in her very own handwriting? I shoulda been a musician or an actor or a DJ, but I was raised by my parents fears resulting from their experience in the Depression, and was not encouraged to take non-traditional risks. I'm definitely not a normal person, but there are a lot of lawyers like that. We had a talent show (called the Cardozorama [after Supreme Court Justice Benjamin Cordozo]) each year at our law school (UC Davis) and it was scarey how much talent there was. A lot of lawyers are really creative people who just need the security of a regular, paying job. Unfortunately society doesn't have room for us all to be bass players, and song writers and dancers and artists. Susan's brother David was a lawyer, you know, until he chucked it to join the Capitol Steps and become a comedian. He's "my brother Benny was a big-time lawyer" in So Heavy who throws out his brief case and buys a silver-plated flute. As for the talent among lawyers, why not combine the two, and you could be known as The Dancing Lawyer. Or The DJ Lawyer. Or you could SING to the jury while presenting a case. It would sure keep a jury awake during closing arguments, too. Then again, maybe not. :) Pamela HELP! owner-believers@smoe.org Send mail to believers@smoe.org Susan's CD's are available on your desktop at songs.com ------------------------------ End of believers-digest V4 #36 ****************************** --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------- This has been a posting from the Susan Werner believers-digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe believers-digest" in the body of the message
