It's very subtle because she's always been great, but she just seems more in control. Even when she does songs that I've heard many times before, it's always a treat because I remember the first time I heard them and Susan just sends chills up my spine with her intensity and her voice. The crowd was not large, maybe only about 75. It rained pretty bad all day. I don't understand why people who are not as talented (IMHO) as Susan fill the place, but nobody seems to know Susan. Maybe it was because it was a Sunday night and a holiday weekend. I brought 7 friends with me. Susan was very impressed with the big quiet hall at the Neighborhood Church and the Steinway grand piano. After she did Movie of My Life she strapped on her guitar and said, "This hall is so quiet I could play piano all night." To which we all said, "OK." So Susan went back to the piano and played Every Time You Say Good Bye by Cole Porter. I think she also did No One Needs to Know (written in December) because she liked the piano. She got three encores. If Not For You Was Great. My friends were all very impressed with Susan's performance. Her piano playing was particularly impressive tonight. After the show I went up and spoke to Jane and showed her the big pin that Suzie T. made for me and the Attend the Sky card that Suzie also made for me. Jane really liked them and told me to be sure and show them to Susan. Jane said she almost never looks at this list anymore. Susan said, "You've got a really big pin." She also really liked the card. Jane and Susan both remembered Suzie T. when I said, "She's the lady with the barbie doll." I told Jane that the fire people said hello and she looked quizzical. I said, "You know the people in Chatanooga who had the fire." She said, "Oh yeah, did they get the CD's?" I told her they did. It was a great show. Next show is next Saturday...unless I really flip out and drive two hours up to Santa Barbara on Wednesday...
