I am very concerned about a trend I see happening through email on a weekly, sometimes daily, basis. People are using email to fool good-hearted people into forwarding useless, untrue messages to everyone they know. Some really common ones involve a story about a computer virus, or a lost child, or a class email tracking project, or a big company that will track the messages and pay you for forwarding them. It really makes me mad to see people I care about get tricked by these hoaxes, and I feel like a know-it-all when I send them a message after I have researched the story and found it untrue. I got fooled by several of these stories in my early email days, so I know how it feels to find out they are lies created by sick-minded people. Please help me to put an end to all these hoaxes and urban legends. Please bookmark the following sites, so that you may research any messages you might receive in the future. Please CHECK OUT any message that asks you to "forward it to everyone you know." And please, please, forward THIS message to all the people in all your address books, and ask them to do the same. This is the best message you can possibly forward to people you care about.
